Rurouni Kenshin Live Action (2012) Movie.

by kuro-hime

To be honest, I had to review this movie or else, I'll be doing this world injustice.

SUMMARY :
Do we really need a summary of Rurouni Kenshin? Ok, fine. I'll just write it anyway.

Hitokiri Battosai is a trained assassin who worked for the Imperialist. He fought in the of Toba-Fushimi and then, left his sword and vowed not to kill again after disappearing.
After a decade, he now becomes a wanderer who goes by the name, Himura Kenshin. He meets Kamiya Kaoru, the owner of a dojo.
Kenshin moves in with them after stopping a bunch of thugs who were hired by Kanryu Takeda to take over the dojo and also a another man claims to be Battosai, killing loads of people and policemen who happens to be tarnishing the Kamiya Dojo.
Takani Megumi, escaped from Kanryu after being forced to make opium and she saved people from rat poisoning that was caused by Kanryu.
She went back to Kanryu, trying to kill him but fails and is taken hostage. Kenshin and Sanosuke goes to save her. They managed to save her but found out that Jin-e took Kaoru as hostage in another place.
Kenshin goes over to save Kaoru. He and Jin-e has a duel and Kenshin saved Kamiya Kaoru.

REVIEW :

Honestly, at first, I didn't expect much from this movie because a live action adaptation of an anime is very hard to make and very few have gotten it right.
And to make it worse, they decided to make Rurouni Kenshin. It's only one of the most beloved anime in the anime world.

When I watched the trailer, I was excited but I was realistic because I know that it can turn out to be very horrible.

How was the movie?
One word. Perfection.

This is really a very good live action adaptation of an anime. It's literally the anime but in live action format.

I like how the director stayed true to the spirit of Rurouni Kenshin and put that on screen.

Even though the plot of the movie didn't really follow the plot in the anime, I like how the movie mixed up and combine the different beginning arcs to make one plot. I found that very creative.
Only thing that maybe, I didn't like is the lack of Oniwanban group, especially, Aoshi Shinamori.

The action scenes are superb. I don't know how they do it but the fight scenes takes my breath away every single time.

The funny scenes, I like how the movie had the mindless comedy that the anime also had. It was nice to see that there was a mix of seriousness and comedy in this movie.

The cast. Did I say they were perfect? Each of the actors and actress did splendidly well to portray the characters. It felt as if the actors and actress were born for these roles.
I also liked how they kept it real like having dirt on Yahiko's face.

All in all, a brilliant adaptation and movie.

This movie is everything I wanted it to be and wanted from a live action adaptation.

I completely recommend it. Even to non-rurouni kenshin or non-anime fans. It's still a very good action movie.

But this is how anime live action movies should be made.

Now, can we have the sequel? In the Kyoto arc, please?

I like how this movie didn't disappoint.

Ok, time to rate it.

I give it a 10 out of 10.
Are you really that surprised?  What can I say, it was really perfect.
