Haha, yes, I am back~~!! Well, it's my holidays and I did promise that if I was free, I would come here and review stuff. So yea. Here I am~~!!

Summary :

Mikael Blomkvist is hired by the great industrialist who has passed his prime, Henrik Vanger to investigate the disappearance of his favorite grand niece, Harriet Vanger. Henrik Vanger has been haunted by her disappearance and taunted by her 'murderer' for 40 years. Blomkvist who is a journalist took the offer because his own career is going to hell after being convicted of libel against Wennerström.

Mikael starts to investigate and then, finds and works together with Lisbeth Salander to solve it.

REVIEW :

This book is honestly one hell of a book. I mean, it's really good. I knew that everyone loves this book and I really wanted to know why. So I went in with great expectation and let me tell you, it did not dissappoint me.

I like how this book mixed crime, business and journalism together. It worked really well. In the beginning, I was a little skeptical because the first few pages proved to be very confusing and very swedish.

But as I read, it completely gripped my attention. I couldn't let go of this book.

Stieg Larsson really did a great job in storytelling. His writing method were simple, honest and captivating.
Usually, I do not like mundane long dialogues and authors writing every miniscule details in their books. However, Stieg Larsson managed to make this mundane dialogues interesting. I have never been so surprised. He writes details but not too much. He gives just enough for the readers to feed on which I think is good.

This story also has several plot twists that you completely wouldn't expect.

WARNING SPOILER HERE : so if you don't like spoilers, it's best if you skip this entire paragraph.

For example, I really thought Harriet Vanger was dead. But she wasn't and the way he managed to twist the story so that it is possible for her to be alive was amazing. That was seriously a good plot twist. I really didn't see that coming. Not only that, the fact that Lisbeth Salander actually falling in love with Blomkvist was a little hard for me to comprehend. It's a little surprising. I saw that coming but dismissed it, thinking that the author wouldn't do that. But he did. So yea.

Not only that, this story does not revolves on only one story or one character. I like how there is many different mysteries in it and how each character is important.

Each character is very well developed especially Lisbeth Salander.

All in all, I think this book deserves all the hype it's getting. It's a good book and I really look forward to reading the next one, The girl who played with fire.
I wonder what will that be about. After all, the mysteries that were presented were all solved in this.

I give this book a 8/10

Burlesque

Ali Rose is an aspiring singer/dancer from Iowa. After being rejected by numerous auditions she realises that to succeed in Los Angeles she'll have to take things up a notch. After stumbling upon a club - Burlesque, Ali is mesmerised by their performance and thus becomes determined to join as a dancer.

Taking up a job as a waitress at the Burlesque, she soon picks up the dance moves. Her lucky break came when Tess the owner of Burlesque requires someone to replace one of her dancer. Reluctantly, Tess took her seeing a part of a former self in Ali.

Thus begins Ali's journey to become one of the most successful performer in Burlesque. Along the way, she will use her wits to save Burlesque from its debts, save her heart from romance and also jealousy.

To be honest, I didn't expect much and I was truly stunned by its choreography, talent and amazing skills. It somewhat reminds me of Chicago but don't misunderstand. Burlesque is its own show.

Starred by Cher and Christina Aguilera, this was one of the reasons I underestimated Burlesque as to me Aguilera is more of a singer than a actress. She has since proved me wrong. The tension between the characters was realistic and wonderful. Throughout the movie, I was kept on my toes as I waited to see what Ali Rose would do.

The soundtrack used in Burlesque was catchy and so were the dance moves. I wished that there would be more. And of course a happy ending to a girl's story is always good. This is truly something worth watching.

The Kitchen Musical (Episode 1)

The Kitchen Musical revolves around Maddi Avilon whom upon graduation from a reputable culinary school in Paris obtained a job as a sous chef at a famous restaurant owned by her father - a position that took her friend Daniel Ray many years to reach. This proves to be a source of discontent among her co-workers as she struggles to showcase her creativity under the tyranical head chef, Alex Marcus

In Episode 1, Maddi believes that The Avilon's menu is due for an overhaul. However she has to content with Alex's absolute command that allowed no deviation from his recipes and orders. This greatly disheartens Maddi. Nonetheless, The Avilon is visited by Hue Masters, an infamous food critic whose comments might make or break their reputation. How will Alex and his team work together to create a display of perfection that will satisfy Masters.

I was totally blown away by episode 1. If you think that this is a cheap imitation of Glee, you're wrong. The Kitchen Musical is its own. A mixture of food and music~ wonderful. We are treated a stunning display of drama interlaced with popular soundtracks such as Unwell by Matchbox and For your Entertainment by Adam Lambert among others.

The cast was a great mix of talented people and their chemistry was undeniable. This is truly a series worth watching and I will expect a great deal from now on. The Kitchen Musical premiers on Malaysia starting 4th of October at Ntv7, 8.30pm every Tuesday.

Prince and Sword

Genre - One shot, Historical, ~~Romance~~

Chen is a swords-women assigned to protect the life of Anli who is on the run from his brother - the tyrannical King Hwan. On a treacherous journey to request aid from his uncle, King Shana of Aragon, Chen discovers that sometimes the truth is not what it appears to be.

As a one shot, there isn't much to elaborate upon. The premise of the plot is very promising and intriguing. However, there is much to be improved. Quite a lot of the plot of what I imagined to be a great storyline was not expanded, leaving the readers with question marks ~ "What thats it?!!"

The romance implied between Anli and Chen was practically non-existent as the plot ended abruptly as things was getting started. The art was reasonable and I was able to distinguish between the different characters. This manga has potential if only the plot was further extended.

1 Litre of Tears is a thought-provoking true story based on the diary of 15-year-old Kito Aya who was struck with an incurable disease - Spinocerebellar Degenaration. Its a cruel illness that affects her mobility, speech, even her ability to eat before succumbing to death at the age of 25.

In 1 Litre of Tears, Ikuechi Aya has high hopes of a great student life. She has just entered reputable school, is well liked and has also made it into the basketball team despite being a first year. However, strange symptoms surfaced - she would always drop items, occasionally unable to judge distance of objects.

Her life changed one day when she tripped and hurt her face being unable to instinctively protect herself. Her whole world came crashing down and thus begin her cruel fate that will eventually trap her in her own body.

This is one of the best drama of all time as it didn't turn into a sappy tragedy drama but rather it focuses on the fragility of life and the ugly side of reality~ "Why did the disease choose me? I won't have it if its just for the word 'fate'." as we are shown its effect on her life and also those of everyone around her.

There as a lingering theme of indirect love between Aya and Asou as she pondered on whether would she have experienced success in love had not had this disease ~"Would I be able to get married?"

This drama also emphasized on the bond and support between friends, family as she tried to live as normally as she could. In one of my favourite moments you can really feel her inner turmoil, determination and her immense courage when she came to terms with her disease~ "To be able to smile and tell everyone this, I have at least cried a litre of tears"

In a nutshell the main and supporting cast was wonderful. They managed to portray the essence of the story that pulled the heartstrings. The chemistry between the characters was excellent and last but not least is the beautiful and touching OST and the end of each episode together with the real Aya's words, pictures and poems. This together with the plot makes the series you'll never regret watching.

Water boys is a heart-warming , inspirational and yet light-hearted J-drama about five boys as they struggle to form a men's synchronised swimming club. Along the way they learn about hardship, determination, team spirit, friendship, and love.

Going back to the events in the movie, five seniors formed a men's synchro club which made their school - Tadano High- a pioneer for men's synchronised swimming. Two years has passed since then. The team is disbanded as the Education Committee is keen to maintain a high standard of education - no senior members had passed the entrance exam. The members left with no choice are forced to comply.

Kankuro Shindo inspired by a performance he has watched as a freshman, now leader is determined for a chance to stage a performance. And so begins his adventure as he struggles to obtain the minimum five members and teacher advisor needed to reform the club.

Fans of the original movie might find this disappointing. Compared, there are only slight differences that mark the drama as different. (Read: Carbon Copy) So if you do not want to ruin it, Don't-Watch-The-Movie or vice versa. On a brighter note, this is exceedingly entertaining and refreshing. Its funny, and yet not to overly so as certain drama tend to overdo things a little by using a lot of special effects.

The 1st quarter is interesting but somewhere towards the middle it gets rather boring, repetitive and also predictable. However, the final performance really did a closure and you'll find yourself excited watching their performance. Just so you know, don't expect to see a lot of pro-synchronised swimming moves.

Anyway don't let the cheesy gay-ish title fool you and it is worth a shot - a few shots at least. Just give it a chance and you might find yourself wondering why are you watching a bunch of skinny guys in speedo's prancing around in less than flattering movements.

Well, It's not that she'll be leaving forever or anything but she'll be going to college next week. And she'll no longer be able to post as often as she did.

Ways to Live Forever.

SUMMARY :

Sam Oliver McQueen is an eleven-year-old child, terminally ill with leukemia, who, during one of his special education sessions decides to write a book about his life. In that book, he will include stories, amusing facts, lists, and his own diary. One of the lists is entitled "Things I Want to Do". With the help of his best friend Felix Stranger, an ill 13-year-old child, he will make all his wishes come true.

Sam makes numerous lists of questions. With the help of his teacher, they conduct various experiments, Sam and Felix break world records (including the world's smallest night club). However things take a turn for the worst and Felix dies in hospital. This leaves Sam devastated. Eventually, the doctors realize the medication isn't working as well and Sam makes the decision to stop all medication.

Sam dies in his sleep about a month later; he has given his parents a form to fill in about his death so he could finish his book. The last comment is made by his mother, who says, "Sam died quietly in his sleep. He was in no pain."

REVIEW :

This is a beautiful story. Eventhough the premise of the story is a little sad but at the same time, it's also hopeful.

I like how the author wrote this in a very brutal honest point of view.

The author did a wonderful job in expressing how the main character felt and how he responded with everything that was happening.

The character development here is brilliant. Each character here is very well written. Through the main characters eyes, you can see the other characters behavior and thoughts.

This story made me think a lot. Mainly, I thought a lot of life and death.

And as you reach the end of the book, the author describes things really well and you can roughly guess that the main characters' life is going to end.

I felt that the ending is bittersweet.

For me, I love the idea of this story, the honesty here and the writing style.

If you love the slice of life genre, you would enjoy this a lot.

I rate this 8 out of 10.

SUMMARY :

Earth has been populated by thousands of aliens from all over the galaxy. While all the other aliens are aware of their presence, it is a secret only from the Earthlings. Baka, the prince of the planet Dogra, crash lands on Earth and loses his memory. He forcibly moves in with Tsutsui Yukitata, a first year high school student who had just moved out on his own. The normal life he once knew is quickly pulled away as he becomes the target of the prince's torment.

REVIEW :

This is one of the most hilarious, absurd & random anime I have ever watched.

Why do I say that?

Well, this anime is funny and it can't be taken to seriously sometimes. It's also very RANDOM because you don't really know what will happen next episode.

This anime is very episodic which means, each episode has it's own story in it.
The main plot though is about Aliens on Earth or just Aliens in general. But sometimes, it could be just Prince Baka tricking people or aliens.

To be honest, I didn't think I would enjoy this anime. I only watched it because it seemed to be popular or rather it had a good impressions.

But bit by bit, I began to love this series!! This series is just so fun to watch~!!

Anyhow, the art of this series is quite well done. It has that realistic quality to it. The art style is a little bit like Death Note. It's realistic & nice.

I never really noticed the background music so I can't tell if it's good or bad. But I do love the OP and ED songs. They are pretty catchy and nice to listen.

And plot? Like I said, it's episodic. There is and yet, there isn't a plot. Great thing is, it's freaking random!! That means, you really have no idea what will happen next. I have never been so entertained by a random show before.
Good thing is, the surprises are really surprising.

The humor here is pretty good. IT's been a while since I actually LAUGH OUT LOUD while watching anime & this anime did exactly that.

And the characters here are pretty well done. There's some character development despite this being only a 13 episode anime series. You actually enjoy seeing the characters on screen. Some of them may have less screen time, but you love them anyways.

The characters have their own charm. This anime series is pretty awesome because of the characters.

And oh my god, did I say I love the voice actors doing this series? For me, the voice actors voiced the characters with almost 100% accuracy. It's like, the voice actors were born to voice these characters.

With the voice actors voice fitting the characters, this made me love this series even more!

Only thing I didn't like is that certain episodes were really stupid but other than that, it's pretty good.

I rate this anime a 9 out of 10. Yea, that's pretty high but I can't help it because this series is so damn funny!

Only thing is, I'm sad that the series is over. Wish there was a season 2 or OVA or something.

You can expect a fun ride & some laughs out of this anime. It's just a nice watch.

Kore wa Zombie desu ka

With Eucliwood, Haruna, and a vampire ninja named Seraphim living with him, Ayumu helps battle demons known as Megalos while trying to figure out the mystery behind his own death!

REVIEW :

This anime is a surprise to me. I expected this anime to be very shallow, stupid and just something you watch to kick boredom away.

BUT I was sorta wrong.

In the beginning of the series, this anime "looked" very stupid. I mean, cute girls and hot girls everywhere. I thought it would be a show of just pure fanservice.
Well, this series HAS ALOT of fanservice, but it makes the fanservice quite funny at times so I don't really mind.

I also kinda like how Ayumu gets kicked around by 3 girls (necromancer, masou shoujo & vampire ninja)

All in all, this is an anime with fanservice, action & lots of humor.

Honestly, I was shocked that I liked this series....but it's hard to hate this series. I mean, the writers didn't take this series too seriously so it's just so light, random at times and funny.

And surprisingly, this series has a PLOT too. In around episode 3 or 4 or 5, you see that Ayumu wants to find the person who murdered him. So in a way, it's also a mystery.
Things got even more sticky & deeper as the episodes continue.

Then, at the end of the show, I really like how it ended. There's only 12 episodes so this series is short & sweet. (However, this series actually ended at episode 11. Episode 12 is just funny filler)

The music was alright in this series, nothing special. (but I really hate the ED though)

As for the art, surprisingly, it's good art from Studio Deen. Normally, I know that Studio Deen's art isn't the best but for this series, they did alright.

It's a great short series and I'm glad that it only has 12 episodes because if it had more, I don't think it'll be as good.

I rate this anime a 6 out of 10. It's enjoyable & fun~!!

REVIEW :

Personally, I love this anime.

I feel that the art, voice acting and character development is great!

The art is really nice. The colors used and lighting makes the anime more intense.

Then, the voice acting. I can't help but just replay certain scenes to hear their voices.

Not only that, the character development is done quite slowly but nicely. The pacing is pretty good.

At first, I liked how the anime was deeper and more mysterious than it seem to be. Conspiracy theories were hinted but no one really knows what's the answer.
The anime goes on, hinting more and revealing bit by bit of the mystery.
I like how so many questions arises as the anime series go on.

Unfortunately, the ending was a huge disappointment.

Can you imagine that you have a billion questions and theories BUT none of them get answered??!!

I mean, WTF?!!

I love every part of the anime EXCEPT the ending.

ugh, so many unanswered questions!

But some people say that this happens because the manga is not finished yet. Well, I guess this will be like FMA (1st season)

Does that mean, there'll be a redo?? FMA : Brotherhood, anyone? I really hope so though.

Other than that, I pretty much enjoyed the series. Even the music in this series was solid. It had a great OP and ED songs. The background music really made the scene even more intense.

I rate this anime 7 out of 10.

Black Swan

SUMMARY :

Nina Sayers is a young dancer with a prestigious ballet company in New York City. She lives with her overbearing mother, Erica, a failed dancer turned amateur artist who tries to control much of Nina's life.

The ballet company is preparing for a production of Swan Lake. The director, Thomas Leroy, has to cast a new principal dancer. The lead must be able to portray both the innocent, fragile White Swan and her darkly sensual, evil twin, the Black Swan. Nina is selected to compete for the part alongside several other dancers. The director does not intend to cast Nina as the Swan Queen. When Nina visits him to request the role, he tells her that her rigid technique makes her ideal for the White Swan, but that she lacks the passion to dance the Black Swan. When he forces a kiss on her, she bites him. Thomas sees her potential and gives her the role.

As she trains for the role, she falls into madness.

REVIEW :

Wow, this is one of the most intense movie ever. Who knew that falling into madness could be so, well, intense.

Anyhow, this movie is totally psychological. I mean, it's a movie that'll really get you and affect you.

Natalie Portman was brillant in this movie. In fact, the whole cast was GREAT!!

The director did a great job and the cinematography in this movie is beautiful.

I like how we, the audience couldn't tell whether it was reality or just one of Nina's crazy moments.

This movie is also a little scary because Nina is going crazy and certain scenes were frightening. I mean, breaking and twisted crackling bones scare the shit out of me. Maybe it's just me, but I dislike watching the human body being distorted like being broken or twisted in a very ugly painful way.

This movie also had lots of sexual things such masturbation and two girls making out. So yea. That isn't my favourite part in the movie but it's needed because Nina was going crazy and this was part of it.

I like the director or the movie captures her fall to crazyland. It's actually quite beautiful and sad.

Nina is a good dedicated dancer and she would do anything for her role.
Unfortunately, she lost her sanity for the role.

But atleast, she danced a beautiful dance and it was perfect. So yea...

Anyhow, brilliant movie! I would recommend it and I would recommend that people over 18 years old watch it. It's really intense.

This movie made me respect dancers and all their passion. Unfortunately, it also made me question it. Why dance so hard? I mean, a dancing career will end when you reach the age of 30.
And some never even make it to be famous dancers!
So yea.

But thanks to the movie, if I ever have a daughter, I will not send her to a dancing school.
I respect the dance world but I'm glad that I'm not part of it.

Anyway, enough of that, I'm rating this movie a 9 out of 10!!

Hachiko : A dog's story

Based on a true story, this is a movie about a dog, Hachiko and his owner Parker Wilson.
This is a tale about loyalty and love.

It is a story about how a dog can be still very loyal to his owner even after his death.

REVIEW :

This is a really sad and brilliant movie. This movie is so touching and to think that a dog can be so loyal. I mean, it's a dog. It's not even human and yet, that dog has more heart that some humans have.

And to think that it's based on a true story, that makes it even more incredible! I mean, I can't believe it's real!

It's a ~~sad story~~. No, it's a beautiful touching story that makes you feel sad and yet all warm inside.
Movies like this make me wanna get a dog. It makes me respect a dog or any animal. At the same time, it also show the beauty of relationships and that it isn't just confined to humans.

The cast did a great job! Richard Gere was brilliant eventhough he wasn't around for the second or third half of the movie.
And the dog, oh my god, it is as if the dog can act. I mean, how do they do it?

At certain moments, I will question the dog existence. I mean, could that dog be a visual effect? I mean, Aslan from Narnia wasn't real. So I thought maybe, Hachiko wasn't real.

But the fur of the dog looked too real and when I checked on wikipedia, Hachiko were real dogs. (there were more than one dog that played Hachiko in this movie)

Wow. That absolutely shocked me. Who knew that dogs could act and they are pretty darn good in acting too.

Anyhow, I would definitely recommend this movie to ALL ANIMAL LOVERS~!

I would rate this movie 8.5 out of 10~!

The Green Hornet

SUMMARY :

Britt Reid (Seth Rogen) is the 28-year-old slacker son of widower James Reid (Tom Wilkinson), publisher of the Los Angeles newspaper The Daily Sentinel. Britt is an irresponsible playboy, but his attitude changes when James is found dead from an allergic reaction to a bee sting. After the funeral, Britt fires the staff aside from his maid and Kato (Jay Chou), James' mechanic and a skilled martial artist.

Britt and Kato get drunk together and, upon agreeing that they both hated James, visit the graveyard to cut the head off James' memorial statue as payback. After they succeed, they see a couple being mugged, and rescue them. Britt and Kato are themselves mistaken by police for criminals and chased through the streets, but Kato evades them and he and Britt return to the mansion.

Britt convinces Kato they should become crime-fighters who pose as criminals in order to infiltrate real criminals, and also to prevent enemies from using innocents against them. Kato agrees, and develops a car outfitted with several gadgets and weapons, which they call the Black Beauty. Britt plans to capture Benjamin Chudnofsky (Christoph Waltz), a Russian mobster who is uniting the criminal families of Los Angeles under his command, and whom his father was trying to expose. To get Chudnofsky's attention, Britt uses the Daily Sentinel as a vehicle to publish articles about the "high-profile criminal" the Green Hornet.

Why call it the Green Hornet when the Green Hornet does almost nothing. Might as well call it the Kato or something like that.

Did I like the movie? Well, it was enjoyable but it won't be my favourite or anything like that.

I think Britt is a rich spoiled brat who doesn't know how to do anything. I worry for him. Unlike Bruce Wayne, Britt's an idiot. Atleast, Bruce Wayne is pretending to be an idiot & a playboy. BUT Britt, he's that way.
Yea, I shouldn't be comparing Bruce Wayne to Britt.

But I'll give Britt some credit. It's thanks to his stupidity that the movie is more funny and interesting. Most of the humour comes from him. Ok, he's not all that bad. He was just useless through out 3 quaters of the movie. At the end, he finally DID something.

However, thank god Kato isn't a stupid asian. Atleast, he step up and show Britt that he's not idiot who gets to be bullied. I like that part.

This is just an enjoyable movie. Nothing special. It's not a great movie but it's not the worst either. It's just alright. Something to watch so that you can waste time and escape the world.

ONE thing lacking is that I think Kato should get a nickname eventhough he's just a "sidekick". (I mean, even Batman sidekick has a nickname which is called ROBIN.)

I rate this movie 4.5 out of 10.

Radiant Shadows (Wicked Lovely #4)

Radiant Shadows is the second stand alone book in these series after Ink Exchange. As it suggest, this book is not really necessary to the storyline but will help us understand the lesser known characters. For Radiant Shadows, we leave the frivolity of the Summer Court and enter the lesser known realm of the Dark Court.

The beginning shows us a scene from Devlin's - the High court Assassin - past where he agrees to shelter a spectral girl in faerie. Fast forward a century, Devlin once again spared a halfing - Ani - from Sorcha, the High Queen who ordered her death with the warning that she may never enter Faerie.

At the present, Ani struggles to fit in with the Hound of the Dark Court due to her father's over protectiveness but also as she was too mortal to fit in and yet held too much of fey to be safe in the mortal world. As Faerie begin to fall apart, Devlin, Ani and Rae, the spectral girl will see the creation of a new court - one that will balance the High Court and will forever seal the passage between Faerie and mortal world.

I'll have to say that this book is awesome but one thing that slightly irked me was that it failed as the continuation of Fragile Eternity. We only get glimpse of Seth, Aislinn and Keenan and throughout the whole book the main canon characters did not really live up to my expectation. Those who are reading this book for Seth...don't waste your money.

In the whole, it isn't too bad but I hope that for its finale, Melissa Marr will bring back the entire storyline back as it was what that originally captivated me.

Sophie Kinsella did it again. I definitely liked this book.

It's Sophie Kinsella usual writing style. Simple, fun & captivating.

The plot? It's the usual too. The drama, the chaos, the problems then, the mystery and the hunt. And Finally, the happy ending. (and don't forget the man too)

She still manages to throw a few surprises in the book.

Only thing I hated is that it's the same thing. Nothing different or special. It's the same usual Sophie Kinsella style. It's getting a little boring, ain't it?

Other than that, this book is pretty top notch.

If you just want some entertaining story that will distract you and let you have fun, this is definitely the book!
Easy, fun and yet insightful (a little)

I still love Sophie Kinsella but I'm wondering, is this all she can come up with?

Anyhow, this is still a good read.

I rate it 7 out of 10. Pretty good and nice but not exactly the best thing on earth.

Fragile Eternity (Wicked Lovely #3)

Fragile Eternity continues from it started in Wicked Lovely. In this installation we join Aislinn the mortal-turned-Queen, now bound to Keenan the Summer King. It would've been a happily ever after if not for the fact that she still loves Seth Morgan, a simple, normal human - something that she once were. However as Aislinn became drawn to Keenan, and the chasm of difference between her and Seth grows larger, Seth would make a life altering decision that will change his life and everyone's around him.

I have to admit that in the begining I was drawn to its cover and title rather than its storyline. I found Melissa Marr's writing style different and I had problems trying to connect its storyline (as I had not read Wicked Lovely then) However I found that as I read on its story begin to grow on me.

I found this story unique and was something to ponder over. Melissa Marr could've easily made this a Once-upon-a-time story but she didn't. Her version of the Fey's world isn't all nice. I also enjoyed it that she didn't simply concentrate on the main characetrs and leaving the side characters as wall paper - a fatal flaw done by many authors.

Melissa Marr's style is one that might take time to grow on you,but do give it a chance. A word of advise though, read Wicked Lovely, then Ink Exchange before you start on Fragile Eternity.

Gundam 00 season 1 & 2

It is the year A.D. 2307. Fossil fuels on Earth have been depleted entirely, with mankind turning to the next available power source: solar energy. During this time, 3 orbital elevators with solar power generation systems are built, each under control by the Union of Solar Energy and Free Nations (formerly United States of America), the Human Reform League (Russia, China and India) and the Advanced European Union. However, not all countries are able to enjoy the benefits of this system, leading to widespread resentment and war. Arising out of the conflict, a mysterious military organization known as Celestial Being appears, dedicated to end all warfare using Mobile Suits called Gundam. This begins the stories of Gundam Meisters (pilots) Setsuna F. Seiei, Lockon Stratos, Allelujah Haptism and Tiera Erde as they are thrown into conflict between the 3 superpowers and the various other factions.

REVIEW :

One word, EPIC.
Why do I say that? Well, for the first time in my entire life, I have no idea who's gonna live or die. It's an anime that demands your attention and you can't look away from it even for a minute.

Even though the theory for world peace is a little absurd and crappy, you still can't help but support the celestial beings.
I like how the anime doesn't push their idealism on the viewers. It just show and explain the idealism of both side.

Personally for me, I support the Celestial Beings.
This anime has loads of action to offer and I love the Gundams in it! I hate how this anime takes my breath away and makes me pray for the Celestial Being while hoping that they're not dead.

The art here is pretty alright so is the background music. Heck, the background music makes the scene much more intense and EPIC!

However, I do hate that (spoiler alert) Lockon Stratus (Neil Dylandy) died. I mean, WTF? Why did he have to die? Damn, and he's part of the Celestial Being which means he is one of the main character. Yes, one of the main character die. WTF?
I also hate that Saji Crossroad and Louise Havely is around after 2 seasons. WTF? I don't give a shit about them. I really don't care. I don't get it. The producers kill of Lockon but saves Saji & Louise?? How is Saji & Louise even important to the plot??

Anyway, the plot is quite alright. It's a bit confusing at first because of all the politic crap. I like the politic and war plot. It's always awesome! If you don't like politics, do not watch this!!

One more thing, I think the names in this anime is funny. Allelujah Haptism? I mean, seriously? What kind of name is that? I get that Japanese makes funny english names but Allelujah Haptisim??

The character development here is pretty good. Almost all the characters that mattered got to grow in their own way. Odd thing is, I think the main character didn't get to grow too much. But I don't mind too much because he's kinda bad ass.

However, one thing that annoyed me was that the dialogues in this anime were kinda crappy. They either didn't make sense or that the dialogues are always left hanging!!

Anyway, I love this show. It has action, plot and character development. Even though, this anime is flawed but it has it's epic moments. Trust me, the epic moments beat the crappy moment.

I rate this anime 8.5 out of 10.

Make Lemonade by Virginia Euwer Wolff

REVIEW :

This is very interesting book. The writing style is very simple and basic. Nothing too complicated.

I like how this book is so real. Well, of course, it's in the slice of life genre. The story and writing style is so sincere. It's just telling the story of their lives.

The book is written in a diary style in LaVaughn's point of view. For a fourteen year old, she is quite a mature girl with a kind heart. I like her character.
Jolly is too stubborn sometimes.

There is nothing much to say about this book except that this is a good read.

You will not enjoy this book unless you're like the slice of life genre.

For a slice of life genre, this is a very good book.

Virginia Euwer Wolff certainly writes very well and this book has made me into her fan.

It's a simple and yet complex book about people lives.

I rate it 7 out of 10 stars!

The Wedding Girl by Madeline Wickham a.k.a Sophie Kinsella.

Milly has locked away this history so securely that even she has almost persuaded herself that it doesn't exist - until with only 4 more days to the wedding, her secret catches up with her......And when saying "I do" gives you déjà vu, it could be a problem.

REVIEW :

To be honest, I expected another Sophie Kinsella sweet, fluffy & light novel but I was wrong. Now, I think I know why she write this book under another name which is Madeline Wickham.

This book is nothing like Sophie Kinsella's novels except the fact that it's still in the chick-lit genre.

Personally, I enjoyed the book & found it to be a good fulfilling read. This novel is slightly darker, heavier & more interesting. However, some people might be offended by this book.

The wedding girl has more than one story going on. It's not just about Milly. It's about her, her parents, her sister, her fiancé & etc. It's quite interesting and hectic at the same time. I have to admit Madeline is a professional at character developments because she made me care about all the characters.

Not only that, Madeline Wickham's writing style seemed more intelligent and slightly deeper compared to Sophie Kinsella's. It's interesting that they're both the same person when they seem so different.

However, there were some issues that were highlighted in this book such as honesty, gays and love. I like she questioned honesty. Is honesty a good or a bad thing? Is honesty neccessary sometimes? I suppose it all depends on the situation.
Then, there's the gay part. IF you're a goody two shoes church going person, you might not like this book too much. She did not paint a good picture of goody two shoes church going people. She made it seem that church going people are close minded and too god-centric. I'm sure not all are like that.
She also questioned the society's reaction towards gays. IS gay a good or bad thing? Is it really wrong?
But I agree with Madeline Wickham's point of view. I suppose that's one of the reason I enjoyed the book.

Seriously, the love letter from one gay to another was the most lovely, purest, beautiful and touching love letter I ever read. I cried. It may sound revolting but the content of the letter was just so pure.

I also loved how she played with the theme love. Gay love, unconditional love, marriage love and etc. I guess love do exists in all forms whether we like it or not.
I was slightly shock when the book revealed a much younger girl is together with a man who is old enough to be her father. At first, I disagreed but later, I just realised, if they do love each other, who are we to argue. But not all is bad, this book also showed how an old married couple who drifted apart falling in love again which is quite sweet.

The book taught me to be less judgemental. Don't judge at all. If they're happy, then so be it.

There are so many questions that arises in this book. It's not a light read at all but it was interesting.

Not only that, the sudden plot twists and surprises really surprised me. It was good to read a book that wasn't so predictable once in a while. But of course, there were some very predictable parts.

Did I enjoy this book? YES, I did. One of the best books that I have ever come across! It made me laugh and cry together with the characters.
Personally, I love this book but I know this book isn't for everyone.
Do I recommend it? Yes to people who are looking for something controversial and open minded. No to people who are not so open minded.

I rate this book 8.5 out of 10. It was that good. Personally, I like Madeline Wickham more than Sophie Kinsella. Madeline Wickham has more depth. I like that.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow Part 1

Finally the arrival of the awaited 7th installation of HP. Part 1 is the first time our trio left the confines of Hogwarts, wandering mindlessly searching for bits and pieces of Voldemorts soul. Beware though, If you haven't been around for the last 6 movie, you're wasting your time because it is specifically for fans. (READ: people who knows whats going on)

HP7 is the darkest thematically where the good guys are fighting a losing battle. From the beginning it was a massacre & maiming of our characters. Casualty includes Dobby & Mad eye Moody.

On the bright side, the two part movie means more character development. The pacing was excellent although certain characters (eg. Kreacher) did not get the screening they deserve. On whole its a prequel with teasers of more to come

Frank Allen (Ryan Reynolds) is a professional speaker who lectures on time management and he lives by example by perfectly maximizing his efficiency through scheduling and planning his own life down to the minute. One day when his wife Susan (Emily Mortimer) decides to set the alarm clock back 10 minutes, in hopes of giving her husband an extra ten minutes of time in the morning; she accomplishes the exact opposite. From missing the ferry to arriving late to his lecture on time management, Frank experiences an off day. While driving home, he sees a pregnant woman in need of help of getting to the hospital and he decides to offer the stranger a lift. At the hospital, Frank is asked to fill out some paper work, and not thinking much about his situation, he puts his own information down and the nurses at the hospital misunderstand and assume he is the father.

REVIEW :

This is a really interesting movie. Actually, I never expected much from this movie.

This movie is sad, funny and touching all at the same time.

However, the movie did begin in a very lame slow pace. It's not exactly fun. But as the movie picks it's pace, it is really interesting.

All I have to say is that in this movie alone, I learnt so much more about love, betrayal, friendship and trust.

Not only that, the actors and actresses played their part wonderfully. Wonderful talents.

You will definitely support the main character, and slowly all the characters there.

It's a show that is just so interesting. I can't explain it.

It's just a story about a man. A good man whose life got really screwed up for a moment due to circumstances and his own choices.

I can just relate to it.

I rate this movie 7.5 stars out of 10 stars!

Yakitate!! Japan

Yakitate Japan is your typical prodigy in something who almost never loses and his quest to achieve his goal in that something. This particular story is about a baking genius Azuma Kazuma and his dream to create the ultimate Ja-Pan, a bread good enough to be the Japanese national bread. To achieve his dream, he joins Pantasia - a famous bakery line & "fights" to protect Pantasia from the opposing bakery line St.Piere.

This anime is ALL about bread in case you didn't notice. I'm doubtful in the beginning. Come on, an anime about bread you've got to be kidding. I am amazed. Unlike many shounen anime, there is real substance- baking knowledge anyone. Infact you might just learn a thing or two from YJ.

In YJ you'll find many epic..hilarious moments. Over exaggerated reactions being one of them. Apparently, breads created by godly bakers are truly sublime to create involuntary reactions when eating. Permanent transformation to panda, sending people to heaven and even turning back time.

The characters here are unique and doesn't really fit into the typical character mold. Usually being over the top without being overbearing.

YJ also uses alot of puns & parodies to the extreme and even parodies itself. Although the puns and parodies are very humourous, without much knowledge of the Japanese language much of the puns will pass by without making much of a sense.
Fourth wall breakage seems to be the norm here too as the characters know that they're part of an anime.

But alas, YJ joins animes who overstayed their welcome. With 69 episodes the last arc became quite a bit of a bore. Especially the last episode that jumped out from nowhere. It was too open ended as I would like to see a more closing conclusion.

Overall, if you're looking for a comedy, this anime will definitely brighten your day. I know it sure did for me.

REVIEW :

Honestly, I was very unhappy with this book. WHY? Simple, because it made no absolute sense from the second book. It didn't even continue from the second book. IT was just different and it even was in the point of view of a character that I didn't even notice in the second book.

Sadly, it was in Nina's point of view. Unfortunately, the whole story revolves around Nina and not Luke a.k.a Lee Grant.

Point is, I was waiting for Luke in this whole book and he didn't appear until really late.

So he's not the main character in this book.

It was odd.

However, I have to admit the writing style was still very good and eventhough I hated Nina, I loved Matthias, Percy and Alia. (and I wished it was about them instead)

And eventhough this wasn't a great book compared to the last two but I still like this series. Let's just hope the author doesn't do this again.

I rate this book 4 out of 10 stars.

Sabriel is a trilogy by Garth Nix. It has a solid, fast-paced plot with a unique world. The storyline is a much used premise of a girl with a family pet looking for her parents but the author has made it into something entirely original, different and intriguing. The concept of bells is also new idea never seen before.

Sabriel, the titular character and Touchstone is one of the best heroine & hero I've come across. Often the heroine are either damsels or warior woman and the hero falling into the melodramatic "emo" pits - which I'm proud to say that Sabriel & Touchstone is neither.

As for the theme, this book deals with Life and Death and coming to terms with oneself and one's responsibilities. Abhorsen's final words to Sabriel, "Everyone and everything has a time to die," refer to the idea of sacrifice that is both intriguing and heart wrenching scene where the father sacrifices for his daughter.

This book also deals with one's destiny as the underlying theme and the often repeated phrase "Does the Walker choose the Path, or the Path the Walker?" questions the reader.

This book is an amazing fantasy-esque book and I would recomend this for those who loves a mix of romance and action. But be forewarned that this is a type of book that you either like or dislike.

REVIEW :

In the beginning, I found this series interesting. The female character is actually strong and independent (something super rare in anime, especially shoujo genre)
But I could foresee the usual plot, boy meets girl and sooner or later, they'll get together.

At first, it was something fresh and funny. But after a while, it became draggy and boring.

Not only that, the characters became unrealistic and hard to relate too. On top of that, they weren't really funny or interesting either. Misaki seem to be the toughest girl around that even dudes are afraid of her. Not only that, the girls in her school seems lame, stupid and weak. I mean, c'mon, not every girl is that lame. IT also doesn't help that Misaki and Usui seem to be superhuman at times....

The story got dull after 6 episodes. I mean, it's a shoujo anime so that means they'll get together at the end of it. It also didn't help that the anime got draggy. Around episode 20, I was yelling at the computer screen for them to get together. I mean, get together already and save us the agony of watching the two of you trying to get together.

Even when a love rival entered the picture, it wasn't too interesting. It's just too obvious that Usui will have her at the end of the day. It also didn't help that the love rival wasn't someone too interesting or cool either.

To me, this show is BOREDOM! Why? It's just too draggy, stupid and tiring. It's like watching paint dry.

Character developments? Pretty much none except for Misaki realising that she's in love with Usui and a hint of Usui sad rich family character background.

I only liked the beginning of the show when Misaki wasn't so crazily strong or whatever.

Art? It sucks. It's sloppy and so dull. Sometimes, I feel that the artists are lazy... It's not at all neat sometimes. At certain times, the character proportions could be totally wrong!
I also hated the random filled with flower scenes. It's too random and odd. The timing was just out.

Music? I have to admit I love the ED. (The OP is useless though.) Other than that, the background music is flat and dull.

As for me, my favourite character there is Aoi and even then, he's messed up. If he was slightly cooler, it would have been better.

This shows is not my favourite at all. I don't like it too much and didn't find it particularly interesting or fun to watch.

I rate it 4 out of 10.

This is among the few books that I've read from cover to cover, again and again.
Undoubtedly it was quite original in terms of story lines & character composition. It was fun, very much engaging & detailed right till the end.

This book is very visual...much like a movie. Many battle scenes either bland & dull or leaves you lost. But here I could en visualize the city and how the fortifications were put together.

In this book, I have no particular favourite characters as everyone of them was very rich. Also Oskan was a refreshing change from the typical self-important, blind and generally stupid male hero with enormous ego found it most books of this genre

Personally I find this to be an amazing read & I would recomend this if you enjoy reading fantasy esque books.

It's an alright book. Nothing special but it isn't too bad either.

In the beginning, I liked the fantasy part of it.

Too bad, the author description of the battle scenes or any scene gets me lost sometimes. There's too much detail sometimes that my brain don't know which to process first.
But then again, when the author gets those description right, the visual image in my head of the book is stunning.

Characters were alright. Nothing really special.

This book is just an ordinary story book. It doesn't seem to be outstanding but it's not a terrible book either. The story seem to lack something, be it the writing style, plot or etc...

So if you just want a book to escape from the world for a few moments, I think this is the book for you.

I know why it'll never be a bestseller but it'll be enough to entertain people.

It's not too memorable either.

I rate it 5 out of 10.

Katekyo Hitman Reborn a.k.a Reborn!

The Reborn! story revolves around a boy named Tsunayoshi "Tsuna" Sawada, who is chosen to become the Vongola Family's boss due to him being the great-great-great-great grandson of the first Vongola boss, who had moved to Japan from Italy during his time. He is told by Reborn that he will become the tenth (Italian decimo) Vongola boss. Also, the other candidates for the position of the head of the Vongola Family have died. For these reasons, Tsuna is the only remaining heir. As such, Timoteo a.k.a. "Vongola IX", the current head of the family, sends Reborn, an infant hitman from Italy, to train Tsuna. Tsuna then unwillingly undergoes training from Reborn. Reborn's main method of teaching Tsuna is the "Dying Will Bullet", which will make the person be "reborn" with a stronger self intent on fulfilling his dying will. Through his experiences, the initially clumsy and underachieving Tsuna unconsciously becomes stronger and more confident, which ultimately makes him better suited as the Vongola Family's boss despite continuing to reject his Mafia inheritance.

REVIEW :

Finally, after 203 episodes. it finally ended. For a series that started out as a gag, it's transformation into a kick ass shonen genre is really smooth.

When it was first released, it was quite lame as the lame slapstick jokes get repeated over and over again. Honestly, I would recommend you skip ALL the gag episodes and only watch it when the action begun.

When the action begun, it was great. The plot is good too. Sometimes, Tsuna is a little cowardly and stupid but that's the reason you love him. Who would want to support a smartass, know-it-all, super confident mafia boss? (Ok, most of us would but somehow, Tsuna character makes it very hard for you to NOT support him.)

Did I mention the characters? There's a hell lot of characters in KHR but it's not overwhelming. And seriously, you will be able to remember them almost all of them. Because it has so many characters, there's so many more characters to love and hate. The character developments here is good too. I'm impressed at how the author have so many ideas for so many different characters. And to make it even more awesome, the major and some minor characters have their own quirky habits which is kind of lovable!

The art here is GREAT and so is the background music. It's all very well done. It looks very high budget to me.

I also like the fact that the anime follows the manga very closely. It doesn't have much difference. I like that.

This is an anime with a good mixture of humour, action and drama.

However, this anime do has it's flaws sometimes. But then again, it's easily ignored because everything else is so good.

I rate it 7.5 out of 10~!

And to all KHR fans out there, I heard that the anime isn't really over. There's a next season called Reborn Generation X or Reborn X Generation.Whatever it is called, I look forward to more awesome action~!!

Ouran High School Host Club

Haruhi Fujioka is a scholarship student at Ouran High School and because of the outrageous cost of the school uniform Haruhi wears baggy men’s clothing as a substitute. That combined with her short hair and huge glasses is enough to cause people to think that she is a he, and she does nothing to correct the misunderstanding. One day Haruhi was searching for a quiet place on campus to study and she stumbles upon the Host Club. In her confusion she accidentally breaks an enormously expensive vase and must work with them until her debt for the vase is paid. The school's unofficial motto is "Lineage counts first, wealth a close second"

Honestly, I never expected much from Ouran as my experiences with gender bender manga's aren't very good. After giving it a chance, I must say that it’s one of the few manga that have made me laugh. Tamaki’s OVER reaction to everything to the Host Club’s fascination the world of the "commoners" were highly amusing. Eg, They were shocked that the rumors of such a thing as instant coffee were true.

I also like the fact that it doesn't overwhelm the readers with romance and ignore the other side characters. I dislike the 'fall-heads-over-heel-at-first-glance' syndrome that seem to afflict other shojo manga. Even when you know our heroine is going to fall in love with someone (It is a shojo after all) The manga-ka build up the relationship between character, and actually romance plays a minor role til much much later towards the ending. It deals realistically with real life issues.

Hatori Bisco’s style flows, with characters that are attractive when normal and cute when necessary. The storytelling itself works well. We’re introduced to the characters and the situation early on. We as readers don’t feel lost or confused watching the plot move along. The story is kept amusing, with constant sight gags and jokes. Despite this, there is still a serious side lurking underneath, which is revealed in the later chapters.

In the end, I'd say that Ouran surpasses my expectations very well. The characters have depth and troubles each unique to each person very much like real life. There is not a single character to is there just because he's a bishonen. They all have a role to play and none was ignored. The art is also consistant, crisp and pleasing to the eye. All characters are discern able and each chapter shows that the manga-ka puts real effort towards this manga. This series ended at chapter 83 and so I look forward to Hatori Bisco's next work.

This is one interesting movie.

The plot to this movie is quite simple, not too complicating. However, I did wish it was more dramatic.

There are some moments when they were speaking too wallstreet money broker stuff that I don't understand BUT somehow, you still kinda get what's going on. I find that pretty interesting.

I like how it's about money, capitalism and greed. Yes, greed. But that's not too surprising since it's Gordon Gekko's catchphrase or something like that.
It makes you think. Is greed good? (pun intended. It's Gekko's new book) Does money make the world go round? Or is there something more like family and time?

Oh, the cinemagraphy is good too. I'm really intrigued by the way the camera moved and created the effects it created.

This movie was good BUT it did lack one thing. Intensity.

IF it had more intensity, it would have been great!

Anyway, the cast was wonderful! They were all so talented and they really portrayed the character well. I love the cast!
This is Shia LaBeouf movie that shows that he is all grown up. He's no longer that goofy kid anymore. He is serious and really did good job here.
Michael Douglas was great too(like usual). Carey Mulligan and Susan Sarandon were no pushovers either. GREAT JOB to all the actors and actresses.

Nice movie, it's worth your time. But you have to think a little and it lacks some intensity.

Overall, I rate it 8 out of 10. A nice movie but nothing more UNLESS, you're into money and business!
And yes, money never sleeps.

Kuroshitsuji 2

Kuroshitsuji II is set one year and three months after the conclusion of the original series. In the continuation, Kuroshitsuji II introduces our antagonist Alois Trancy and his (demon) butler Claude Faustus. Despite much speculation about 'Monoshitsuji', the second season reunites Ciel Phantomhive with much of its original cast.

A word though before I begin. The second season is purely by fans for fans = fan service and a lot of it. The opening featuring a (naked)young boy crawling out of the bed of an(naked) old man should tell you enough. There is also a busty maid who somehow or another in the plot is required to rip her own clothes to produce weapon she hid in her cleavage.

So the season begin with us wondering how the hell did Ciel return alive (in a suitcase nonetheless) It gets sticky when Alois can Ciel cross paths. For some strange and perverted reason Alois is after Ciel. Well, saying "I want to be One with you" should creep people out and Ciel definitely is.

A few "brilliant" new twist things get complicated. By now, all the main character personality seemed to have made a 180 turn. Things are made worse when the plot is not fully explained causing general confusion in its audience. If I hadn't watched Season 1 I would definitely trashed and dropped this season.

Season 2 still retain the same quality of its animation. Wonderful OP and ED but if you're looking for an intelligent, well-made plot well you'd have to look elsewhere.

Hmm...how do I say this? This anime really dissappointed me.

It's still ~~plotless.~~ Ugh..fine. It has a plot. Claude and Sebastian fight for Ciel is considered as a plot, if you want to. But to me, if that's a plot then, this is a sad, sad pathetic plot.

The character development sucked. The new characters aren't exactly awesome either...but surprise, they brought back the original characters. Unfortunately, their comeback sucks.
There was almost zero character development. I wonder why.

In season 1, the characters were the reason we kept watching. They were dark, mysterious and interesting. However, in this season, they were a bit out of character, lame and crappy.

Great. The plot sucks and so are the characters. So what is the redeeming factor??

Hmm...the art? Yea, the art is pretty good. HECK, the art is awesome. So if you want to just enjoy the visual art without any plot or character development, this is the show FOR YOU!!

Even the music sucks. Honestly, the OP and the ED was VERY forgettable! The background music weren't solid either.

The plot twist and surprises were NOT surprising to me. I kinda already expected it.
So for the ending, I kinda saw it coming and NO, it was a terrible ending.

I don't know why fangirls cried but I found it HORRIBLE. And no, I don't think Ciel and Sebastian should be together forever...
It also didn't help that the anime was FILLED with fanservice most of the time.

So, what I think of Kuroshitsuji season 2?

It is terrible. Thank god, it lasted 12 episodes. And please, NO SEASON 3!!
It's like some terrible fanfiction come alive in an anime and NO, I do not like fanfictions that much either.

However, I did think that if kuroshitsuji season 2 was trying to sell black nail polish, they did absolutely well. I have the sudden urge to paint my nails black all of a sudden after watching the last episode.

I rate it 3 out of 10.

I do not recommend it unless you are a HUGE fan of this series.

Toy Story 3

Andy is now 17 years old and preparing to go off to college, intending to put most of his toys in the attic (except for Woody, whom he initially plans to take with him). While he apparently hasn't played with his toys for some years, he still cares about mother's suggestion to donate the toys, other than Woody, to the local daycare, but then follows a lead, planted by Woody, to find Bonnie, the daughter of a family friend, whom he realises will look after his childhood playthings. When Bonnie finds Woody in the box as well, Andy shows great reluctance to pass on his favorite toy, but ultimately relents, allowing the toys to stay together in an environment where they'll be loved and played with. He spends a while playing with Bonnie and the toys one last time before departing for college.

This movie is simply brilliant. I understand why this movie took 10 years to make.
Being a fan of Toy Story, my expectation of this movie was REALLY high and guess what, it did NOT dissappoint me at all.

The art of this movie was fantastic. It's much better compared to the last two movies.

The story plot is actually quite simple and yet it works so well. I like how this movie is about friendship, courage and most of all, growing up and moving on.

But at some moments, while watching this movie, you think to yourself, what's the whole deal? They're just T.O.Y. TOYS! And then you think again, you do love your toys and totally hated it when your mother threw them out eventhough you knew that you don't play with them anymore!

The great thing about this movie is it is about TOYS and yet it is so much more than that.

This movie can be watched by all age group and you will be in awe when it ends. However, I feel that Toy Story 3 is for older kids because sometimes, it gets a little intense and dark.
Anyhow, everyone will enjoy the jokes in Toy Story 3.

I don't know how to explain it but this movie is magical.

And maybe even more to me because I'm around Andy's age and that I grew up with Toy Story.

Even the soundtrack and background music for this movie was GOOD. I really enjoyed the I've got a friend in me spanish version.

To me, it was a trip back memory lane and yet a peep into the future.

Even if you have never watch the first two movies, you will still find this movie highly enjoyable.
This movie is funny, sad and touching all at the same time. This is a MUST watch movie.
You will enjoy it, trust me.

Who knew toy's had stories and it's so good too?!

I rate it 10 out 10. Yes, it's perfect.

Kyo Kara Maoh!

Kyo Kara Maoh! takes place in an alternate world that Yuri Shibuya travels to by coming in contact with water. There are many nations in the alternate world,however, the plot centers around Shin Makoku. The people of the kingdom are Mazoku and have the ability to use Majutsu which they can control with Maryoku.

The story begins when Yuri, a 15 year old buy gets flushed down a toilet head first and discovers the other side of it. With his black hair & eyes, he is dubbed the new king of Shin Makoku. There he begins a journey of hilarity & adventure where being slapped in the face means proposing for marriage and picking up a fallen butter knife means accepting a duel.

Yuri sets out to adjust to his new lifestyle while creating a more unified world where demons and humans are in constant conflict with each other. While much of Yuri’s time is spent in Shin Makoku, Yuri goes back and forth from present Japan to this world via contact with water.

Though light hearted, Kyo Kara Maoh does have its serious moments with the role of politics, war, and racism. With humans and Mazoku showing prejudice to each other, much of the arguments end up in conflict, though the fighting is rather tame and it leaves a lot to be desired. The hand-to-hand combat in particular is boring, and sword fighting scenes reduced to black sceen with blue or red swipes...which is to say non-existent.

The usage of maryoku and Majutsu however fares better and the animation is given an exceptional boost in quality. But the magic itself is absurd, offering some ridiculous uses such as lighting striking the roof of a house only to write the kanji for the word “justice” or a humanoid monster created from mud and rock although there are occasional display of "beautiful" use of magic in the form of water dragons.

Kyo Kara Maoh is an interesting show with lively characters, a fun premise, and a lot going for it. Sure you'll feel the episodes drag as the pacing dips and jokes are rehashed, however, the fact remains that the show's a blast at the beginning and at the end. I would recomend this show if you're looking for something easy going after watching an intense anime.

This anime is actually quite terrible. It doesn't really have a proper plot and the idea of someone going through the two worlds by water is quite interesting but the anime made it looked ridiculous.
I mean, the main character, Yuri(which is a japanese name for girls) was flushed down the toilet and that was how he entered the Shin Makoku world. Yes, that's a WTF moment.

Then, it doesn't help that Yuri got engaged to another guy, named Wolstram because he dropped his cutlery. Yea, another WTF moment.
So in a way, I don't get what this anime is so popular.

Some says that it's because of the HOT guys there. I'm looking at them and I find them plain. The characters have nothing attractive in their attitude.
I would have like Wolstram if he didn't walk around in a pink night gown. Once again, WTF.

I find Yuri and Wolstram relationship disgusting. They're engaged but it's obvious Yuri doesn't like him. Since Yuri is a wimp, he does nothing about it. Whereas Wolstram is possesive and clingy towards Yuri, which is disgusting.
WTF.

It also doesn't help that all the other characters seem to be background characters.

Anyhow, there's zero action in this anime. Drama? Maybe there is but because I watch too many dramas in my life, it seems like there was no drama.
But I have to admit that the art for this anime is brillant. It has very clean lines and it's very clear.

Yes, the comedy in this anime is also lame. I feel stupid when I watch this show. It's not even funny...unless half your brain died.

The whole thing was just crappy. From the plot down to the jokes. It was all crappy.

Do this anime offers anything good? Hmm...let me think. My answer is NO.

It has too many WTF moments for me and it was just lame.

When I watched this anime, I felt like my life force is being sucked out of me and that I'm getting dumber by the second. Yes, it was that horrible.

So I rate it 3 out of 10. My advice, don't bother watching it.

REVIEW :

I like Luke at the same time, this book feels odd.

It was mostly Luke's insecure thoughts on how he has to be careful and blend in or else he would get caught by the population police.

Well, I get that he is a kid that has been hiding for years in his home therefore, he's a little scared but sometimes, I feel that he is pathetic.

Everything was a little confusing and weird in the beginning of the book. So many insecurities.

Then in the middle of the book, the paced quicken. The action started which was something good.

By the end of the book, I like it because the little Luke Garner that is scared of his own shadow has grown up to become strong.

Eventhough, it is slightly obvious that Luke is the CHOSEN one but his character growth makes it so interesting. It makes you root for him. He's just an ordinary kid but also something more.

Overall, this one series I will keep reading. I want to see how far it goes and how it all turns out.

REVIEW :

This is definitely a very interesting movie indeed. Like any movie, it has it's flaws and golden moments.

FLAW ONE : The plot doesn't really make sense. There are unanswered question like why would the taio group want to build something underground and who is this taio group? How can they just force people to work underground like that?

FLAW TWO : The flow of the movie is slightly jagged and not really done well.
The movie began and ended as if it was comedy instead of a pyschological thriller. The scenes were a little awkward at first but got better in the middle.

However, the wonderful cast carried the movie so well that you completely DO NOT care about the flaws.

Everyone did a good job and they played their role well. Tatsuya Fujiwara really impressed me because I thought he would fail badly but he DID NOT. Instead, he was great. He's on his way to be a great actor.

Anyhow, I like the underlining themes of this movie. It's about the rich and the poor. Losers and winners. I like all that. I like how eventhough Kaiji is a useless loser but atleast he keep his promise. He's just a loser trying to start anew.

The camera work and the directing were good. Unfortunately the CGI wasn't so good and you can tell that it's a little fake. However, in this movie, it all doesn't matter. What matter is the human spirit to change and the perception of wealth.

A really good movie with great actors eventhough sometimes, they seem to be overacting but the movie needs it.

I heard that there's a sequel coming up soon and I look forward to it.

The Last Airbender

This is, in a single word a disappointment. To be specific, he has made a dull, poorly acted, and thoroughly unappealing fantasy, featuring characters locked in a struggle of no interest. Its a waste of money and I sorely regreted watching it.

Plot wise? There is no plot~!! The viewers are zoomed though the movie as Shyamalan employs voice over narration to advance the story, and each time he does, he creates confusion. What's more, his film doesn't derail. It's off track from its first scene showing two teenagers walking spouting lame dialogues.

Anyway, as The Last Airbender begins, the Fire people are taking over the world and making everybody miserable. And then...(still reading?)a boy emerges~~who has the potential to bend all four elements. And that is the catalyst for 103 minutes of fire flinging and earnest conversation: "And it is in the heart that all battles are won."

Has Shyamalan actually watched an episode of the series BEFORE beginning his work or just read the Wikipedia page. The fact that he couldn't be bothered to get the correct pronunciation of the characters’ names should tell you enough. And if you enjoyed the show’s humor, imagination, and depth, you can go ahead and forget about it.

These mystical powers lack all wonder and mysticism as the characters do what feels like eight minutes of Tai-Chi in order to do one simple and unimpressive move (eg. lifting one bubble of water). Everything you loved about Avatar: The Last Airbender is ,murdered and kicked into a shallow grave in this heartless adaptation.

Verdict: F (Is there any lower grading?)

Socerer's Apperentice

If you've watched Disney's 1940 masterpiece Fantasia then you should find this rather familiar. Basically its about a reluctant hero Dave who got pulled into the story by Balthazar who is looking for the next Merlin. Then he meets the girl, completes his crash course in the science of magic & thus rose to save the day

The scene where 10-year-old Dave stumbled into the shop, tryed out the ring & destroying things in the proses reminds me of Harry Potter. In many ways this is a companion movie to the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time & also The Last Airbender.
There's a lack of urgency in the threat that Horvath poses since Balthazar keeps letting Dave go on dates.

Though the Sorcerer's Apprentice has its fun moments, but they are lost amidst the filler scenes. In whole, its a enjoyable lighthearted movie. Personally, I enjoyed the humor that was incorporated throughout.

REVIEW :

Unfortunately, this anime is plotless. Yes, it has absolutely NO plot. It just revolves around this boy, Ciel and his butler, Sebastian.

IT doesn't even do a jigoku shoujo thing and collect different stories. It's just about them like an autobiography.

However, they make it up with character development. The character development here is pretty good. The characters are slightly wacked but they're okay. Atleast, they look like they have a purpose.

The art is VERY nice. It's neat and beautiful. It makes you wanna look at it more every time. You just can't get enough of it. And it doesn't help that all the male characters are drawn so beautifully. So naturally, we know why all the fangirls are going crazy.

The background music is surprisingly good. It is the very thing that sets the mood for the anime. IT rely alot on the background music.
The Openings and Endings for it was just alright. However, I definately prefer the Openings more than the endings.
But there was one ending that was awesome which was Lacrimosa by Kalafina. IT was so good.

The feel of this anime is the main reason why I watched it. I like gothic and darkness that the anime presented. IT's nice and something different from what most anime are offering.
Plus, it's set in the victorian era which is something nice.

Kuroshitsuji is super popular since it has it's own broadway musical in Japan and drama cd's.
However, I don't really get why all the girls love it but I have to admit it's enjoyable and a little different.

Well, season 2 of kuroshitsuji is currently airing and the producers have added a few new characters. So I would like to see how it goes. Maybe, the producers finally put a plot in. Hopefully, it will be alright.

As for season 1, I rate it 2.5 stars out of 5. Why? Simple, it has no plot. Sorry, I need plots.

REVIEW :

Time for another review.

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood followed the manga very closely but some scenes were changed.

The art for this anime is just average. Nothing too great, it isn't like one of those shoujo or bishonen art. When the disgusting scenes come, it really look bad.

The plot is very original and good. However, around episode 29 onwards, things were a little boring. I almost dropped the series but thank god, I didn't. But things got back on track soon after

I like the idea of two brothers looking out for each other. It feels real and it's something we can all relate too. And thank god, the villain isn't someone bishonen and cliche. The whole alchemy thing is pretty different. The emotions here are also very real.

I like the whole human vs homunculus thing. For once, there isn't a cliche villain.

And one thing I like about Fullmetal Alchemist brotherhood is that it follows the manga and that it's very philosophical.

The music is good but there were some OP and ED that I hated. The background music did a great job to compliment the anime.

Most of the characters are very developed. I like that. Even the minor characters have their own story to tell and they don't just look like characters simply placed there. Those characters actually have a purpose.

I have a feeling that eventhough fullmetal alchemist brotherhood ended, the fullmetal fans will never forget it. It really is a masterpiece. It's so original and it isn't those crappy anime that is MOE or just plain crap action.

So yea, if you like the original fullmetal alchemist, you would SO LOVE THIS.
IF you didn't, you still might like it.

Only thing I didn't like so much was the ending. It felt a little rushed and a little crappy.
BUT I heard there is a movie coming out soon, let's just all hope that the movie don't dissappoint because the anime certainly didn't.

I rate it 4.37 out of 5.

GOOD JOB. Can't wait for the movie.

REVIEW :

The plot of this manga is wonderful, very creative and something very original. This is something quite rare in the anime and the manga world.

However, the pacing of the story is a different story. Some parts of the manga were very draggy and long which is something I hated. I almost nearly dropped the series but thank god, I did not.
But then again, certain parts of the manga were very intense and filled with suspense. Those parts are very good. It kinda takes your breath away AND leaves you hanging till the next chapter comes..

The art is tolerable. Not my favourite kind of art but it's ok. It's quite neat at certain times BUT completely messed during fight scenes. But then again, which shonen(action) manga art isn't messed up during a fight scene?

The characters are very believable and lovable. AND you will actually root for the protagonist. AND you will find the antogonist very disgusting and evil. Unlike some manga/anime, you might root for the antogonist because they're goodlooking or that their character backstory demands it.

All in all, a great manga. I would say EPIC. IT will be a classic and a manga to be remembered. IT will be talked about even years from now like Death Note.

I rate it 4 stars and half out of five.

I look forward to Hiromu Arakawa's new work and I wonder if it will be as good as Fullmetal Alchemist.

Phoebe In Wonderland

The movie tells a story of a 9 year old girl, Phoebe, with apparent Gilles de la Tourette syndrome. While she deals with being odd and insecure, her mother and father are dealing with complexities in their relationship with each other and their challenging child. Her little sister feels neglected as Phoebe gains more attention.

REVIEW :

This is a story about a girl who is very different from everyone else. She seems to have OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). In that sense, she has difficulty in connecting with the world and everyone else. While, her family and the school find it hard to handle her.

I like the idea of how a girl cannot follow the rules. How she feel uncomfortable and resist to follow the world. And how she created her own imaginary world and feel comfortable in it.

To me, the story connected with me. After all, it's about a girl who is different and that she finds it difficult to connect to the rest of the world.
The plot was good and the pacing was nice.

Even the drama teacher who looked like a minor character played a major role in the movie.

I like the idea of the movie that being different is okay and that we should let children be independent.

The cast did an excellent job. Each and everyone carried their role so well. They were all very believable. Elle Fanning really did a great job. Hopefully, she will appear in more great films.

The director did a great job, directing the movie. There were alot of intense moments and scenes in the movie.

A great film.

I rate it 4 stars and a half out of five. I have never seen such a film in my entire life and I look forward to more of these unique independent films.

The Law Of Ueki

SUMMARY :

The story starts out with the Battle of the Supernatural Powers, a tournament to decide who will be the next god of The Celestial World (rendered as God Candidates in the Animax version and Kami (天界人) in the Japanese version).

Each candidate (100 in total) is required to choose a junior high school student (middle school) to act as their fighter. The student is given a unique power and told to eliminate as many enemies as possible. The winning god Candidate will become The New god of Heaven and the winning student will receive the Blank Zai (or talent), a talent that can be anything they choose.

While this leads many students to thoughts of greed and selfishness, Kosuke Ueki decides to take it upon himself to win this tournament to keep that power away from those that would abuse such a gift.

Review :

This anime art is not so awesome so if you're expecting bishonens(hot guys)...then, this is not the show for you. I'll tell you that this anime is totally about fighting, friendship and determination.

The plot of this show...hmm...there is no plot. I mean, they wanna save their god candidates and that's about it. Everyone else in the competition except Ueki and his buddies want to win the BLANK TALENT!! So yea... but to me, I don't see a plot except a bunch of people fighting and upgrading powers.

Hmm...interestingly, Ueki has one of the most weirdest powers EVER which is something cool. He's power seems to be weaker than the others BUT actually it's SUPER AWESOME. He's character is a little weird, over the top and unreal BUT somehow, you just like him. His determination scares you but interests you. AND if you're not careful, his determination is infectious.

I like that Ueki is stupid and yet smart. I like his bondage with his buddies and I like how this anime is done.

I cannot exactly explain it. This anime has a certain magic and pretty original characters. There is no emo here (example, Sasuke, Hitsugaya..etc..) AND the main character of this shonen anime is not your usual main shonen character. HE doesn't wanna save the world nor is he the chosen one.
He just wanna save his hero, Kobasen (who's not much of a hero anyway...)

This anime is just one of the best shonen anime ever. It is totally original and interesting. Somehow it just gets you.

I rate this anime 4 stars and a half out five.

Alice in wonderland

REVIEW :

I have really high expectation of this movie. All of my favourite actor, actress and director are here.
This movie is not as dark as Burton's other movies such as Sweeney Todd but his quirkiness can be seen in this movie. And I know why it's not too dark. It's because this is a children's story that is made by Disney.
The plot is quite nice and enjoyable. Not only that, this movie is refreshing compared to so many movies that are out there right now. This movie also gave depth to the characters

I like how the story is about a girl who thought she knew herself, lost herself and found herself again. I like that idea...and it's very true.
Tim Burton put his own opinion and gave this movie it's own personality.

Personally, I never liked this story but Tim Burton made me love this.

The cast carried this movie very well. Johnny Depp did his thing...however I feel that his character didn't have enough craziness for him to flaunt. Helena Bonham Carter did an excellent job as the Red Queen. Alan Rickman's as the caterpillar was brillant. Even Anne Hatheway did a great job.

All in all, a great enjoyable movie. The cast was great and so was the plot.

Tim Burton did it again. However, I do prefer it if he made another movie like Sweeney Todd. I'll be waiting Tim Burton.

I rate it 4 stars and a half out of 5 stars.

SYNOPSIS :

The five Bennet sisters have all been raised by their mother with one purpose in life - finding a husband. However, the second eldest Lizzie can think 100 reasons not to marry.

When Mrs Bennet hears the exciting news that a wealthy bachelor and his circle of sophisticated friends are to take up summer residence in a nearby mansion, the Bennets are abuzz with the hope that potential suitors will be in full supply. Oblingly, the newcomer, MR Charles Bingley, is immediately taken with the eldest daughter, Jane Bennet. However, when Lizzie meets up with the the darkly handsome snobbish Mr.Darcy, what seems like a match made in heaven quickly become divided by pride and prejudice. Can they get past this and can Lizzie finally find a reason to marry.

BOOK REVIEW :

Finally, I understand why this book is a classic and loved by many. Jane Austen writes really well. Eventhough, the languuage is slightly harder and more twisted than usual. It's still wonderful.
The plot is nice. A little romance for Jane Bennet and Charles Bingley. As usual, some drama get thrown in.
The characters are quite adorable. You will definately adore Jane and Elizabeth Bennet.
This is book is a very hard book to put down.. Once you get started, you cannot stop.
This is definately one of the best books that I have ever read.

Eventhough, the ending is very skeptical (happy endings). Well, I don't really mind. It's a happy ending to a lovely story. It's been a while since we read a story that has a happy ending.

This book must have been the ancestors to all love-hate romance. I highly recommend Pride and Prejudice. I rate this book 4 and a half stars out of five.

MOVIE REVIEW :

This movie is a very interesting and nice movie. As usual, this movie did not follow the book exactly. (A lot of movies hardly follow the book closely.)
However, this movie had a life of it's own. The movie was fun, interesting and funny.
Kiera Knightly gave Elizabeth Bennet a youthful edge while Matthew Macfayden gave Mr.Darcy a very mysterious and dark feel.

Overall, this movie is enjoyable.The director made the movie more modern and relevant to the people of our age. However, if you compare it to the book, I would have to say the book is better because it has more action and drama.

I rate this movie 4 stars out of five stars.

Tegami Bachi (Letter Bee) Season 1

SYNOPSIS :
The story takes place in the land of AmberGround, a place of perpetual night only partially illuminated by an artificial sun. Lag Seeing works as a "Letter Bee" (delivery boy) at the "Bee Hive" (a delivery service), with his Dingo, Niche, and her "pet", Steak, traveling with him. He is entrusted with shards of the population's "hearts", which reside in their their letters and packages.

Storyline :
In the beginning, it was real nice as it slowly introduce all the characters and their intentions. Slowly, you begin to fall in love with the characters there. Later in the series, the pacing becomes VERY SLOW and BORING!! You wish it would just end or get to the point where you want it to be!

Music :
I like the OP and the ED for this series. It's really nice and sweet. It really fits and suit the series. This series doesn't have much background music, just the basic ones but still, it fits the show well and makes the series much more emotional.

Animation :
I love the animation of this anime. It's done very well. The art is neat and mystical somehow. I just love it!!

Characters :

LAG SEEING

Your usual loveable main character. He is crybaby but somehow, you just love him. He's really kindhearted and nice. He just your average boy but is a very nice person.

GAUCHE SEUDE

He's the hardworking man who is doing his best for his family. He will never give up! He's the dude that inspired Lag to be a letter bee!

NICHE

She's Lag's dingo. She is a maya(some weird creature with super strength) She is really loyal to Lag...(too loyal)

REVIEW :

It's a shonen anime but this is the most different and interesting shonen anime I have ever seen. It actually has a pretty solid plot. AND it's not all about the action. This anime plays more on the theme of fantasy.
This anime is the first anime in my whole life to have such heart. This anime really has a heart. You completely feel for the characters and you feel it's magic. Not only that this anime is quite emotional.

The characters here each have their quirkiness and their own story. They are not like some characters that are here just to fill up the space. I like the character development and the plot.

HOWEVER, I don't like the pacing of the anime. It started out fine but later, it became so boring and slow that I wanted to kill myself!!!

Anyhow, I love this idea of this anime and how it is VERY different from your usual shonen thing. I would love to see how the story further unrolls. I hope season 2 that will premier soon would be much more interesting, action packed and emotional.
For now, I rate season 1 of Tegami Bachi 3 stars and a half out of five.
IT was good in the beginning but it got a little boring as it drags on at the speed of a snail. Hopefully, season 2 will not repeat this mistake. I see a great anime here.

A long overdue post but well I'll just get on with it. Usually I'm not very keen on sports manga (too cliche sport-centric...you name it~)but well this one is a little different.

Sho Kazamatsuri is short but that hasn't stopped his dream to be a professional soccer player. To achieve that he transfers from the famed Musashinomori where he was never given a chance to a public school in order to make the soccer team. In other words, since he never got the chance to play, Shō is a poor player. Shō struggles to improve his skill so he can make the team at his new school and to make use of his disadvantage of height.

The thing about this manga is that each game is not too drawn out till it got boring. Higuchi's art is brilliant for a shonen title. Backgrounds are neat and tidy. Higuichi's drawing of the distance, field position and formations help the reader feel as if they are in the game. The layout is also very impressive. It shows perspective, coupled with the variety of panel sizes and sight angles, it sets up the action and pacing.

Each character is distinguishable and varied from their design to their attitude. (This means you don't get confused who is who on the field) Characters are to scale which is important when you consider their age and height difference. This manga is also very well researched and the side notes by the mangaka aides the non-soccer fans understand.

Verdict: 8.5

BOOK

MOVIE (1993)

SYNOPSIS :
A US State Senator is dead and 11 year old Mark Sway is the only one who knows where the body is hidden.

The FBI want him to tell them where it is at whatever cost to Mark and his family.

The killer wants him silenced forever.

Reggie Love has been practising law for less than 5 years. Only she can save Mark from these twin threats. Together, they must take on the might of the State and the wiles of a cold-blooded killer.

BOOK REVIEW :
John Grisham is a good. He's writing style is good. The plot of the story is engaging & nice. It's very good thriller. It's a very hard book to put down once you started reading. He made Mark very real. Mark has his vulnerable moments and strong moments. He's a very witty character too. However, there were times that you know an 11 year old boy won't act that way, no matter what horror he has been through before.
Reggie Love's character is also nice. She's a nice lady with a dark past. What can I say, most of John Grisham's character's are very nicely planned out including Roy Foltrigg and Barry Muldanno.

However, there were certain scenes in the book that was a little unreal. Like for example, the scene where Mark & Reggie went to where the body is. I mean, seriously, what would anyone what to do that?

This book is good and engaging. One of the best thriller and book I have ever read. The only bad thing about this book is the ending. It's quite open ended and the author just leave you guessing who got to the body first.

I rate it 4.5 stars out of 5.

MOVIE REVIEW :

The movie followed the book plot quite strongly until about the end. There were a lot of scenes in the book that the movie left out. Of course, that's something natural. The book is 600 pages. They also changed certain things in the book such as the character Roy Foltrigg here actually goes down to Memphis for the courtcase in Roosevelt courtroom. So they changed Roy Foltrigg character in the movie.

Brad Renfro did a good job in portraying Mark Sway. HE does carry that rude, witty, streetkid Mark. He did a good job. (PS : He's dead...so RIP Brad)
Susan Sarandon did a pretty good job as Reggie. She is fierce and yet kind hearted. However, there weren't enough scenens that showed Susan Sarandon portraying Reggie's fierce and crazy side.
Tommy Lee Jones also did a pretty good version of Roy Foltrigg. So I have no complain about the cast.

But so much scenes in the movie was cut and changed that if you didn't read that book, you really couldn't possibly understand what's happening. Maybe, they were rushing for time but I think the scenes could be done in a better way. The director & the screenwriter sucks.

But the good thing about this movie is the ending. It made the characters all so close and nice to each other despite what they did to each other earlier. The ending is quite warm and heart-warming. However, just like the book, the movie did not tell who got to the body first. *sigh*

It was one of those average thriller movies due to terrible scenes and action but the acting from the cast really just amazes you.
I rate in 3 stars out of 5. The cast really carried the movie.

Unable to live a life, go outside, watch tv, do chores or even join the family meals (for fear that he might be seen through the windows) Luke spends much of his time in the attic - looking out of a small vent where he can see the world outside.

One day, he notices one of his new neighbors has a shadow child, named Jen Talbot. Jen lives a privileged life as the third child of a Baron, one of the social elite. REVIEW :
I like the premise of the story. However, I feel that the story has some plot holes. For an example :
1. Does the whole world practice the population law?
2. If not, why can't the people with a 3rd child run to another country?

So, I'm not too sure if the population law is practiced by the whole world or not. The author didn't say. However, I like the characters in the book. They felt quite real and believable. Seriously, you will care for the characters and pray for their safety.

I like the simple writing style of the author. That's pretty cool and interesting. This book isn't thick and I'm surprised by the way author wrote it. Eventhough it's a short book, there were many dramatic and emotional scenes.

It's a good book and I like the simplicity in the way the author wrote it. Not bad for a book that I thought will suck.

My verdict says 3 out of 5 stars. Not bad, not good. Pretty average. I've read better books.

Bleach Movie 3 : Fade To Black.

SYNOPSIS :
A mysterious reiatsu (spiritual particle) explosion occurs in the center of Seireitsu in Soul Society, causing it to be destroyed. At the exact same time, a major change overwhelms Kuchiki Rukia, which leaves her losing something important inside. Urahara Kisuke sends Kurosaki Ichigo to Soul Society to set upon and attacked by shinigamis, once allies, who have no memory of him and Rukia. Now alone and on the run, Ichigo must find the missing Rukia and uncover the cause of the mysterious incident before it's too late.

REVIEW :

This movie has alot of action scenes...but it's sometimes interupted by Ichigo's talking about bonds and blah. I like the premise and plot of the story. It's about friendship and bonds. That's something pretty cool. However, I think the plot has many flaws. WHY?
Because :
1. Why would they want Rukia to remember their name and yet they don't want her to remember the past?
2. What's with erasing one of the captain memories?
3. How can they be against shinigami when Rukia is a shinigami?
4. They didn't need to merge with Rukia eventhough they love her so much!

Yea, so the plot has quite a few flaws. However, fans of IchiRuki will love this movie because it about the bond of Ichigo and Rukia shares. But fans who just want pure action might be slightly dissappointed by the action scenes that are being stopped suddenly by Ichigo's philosphy lecture.

This movie is better than the first bleach movie but I think DiamondDust Rebellion is best movie for now.
I heard a rumor about a 4th Bleach movie which would be about Ichigo's full hollow form. So let's all cross our fingers and see if the next movie will be awesome!!

And oh, before I forget, I rate this movie a 3.5 stars out of 5 stars.

The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson & the Olympians)

I believe I have reviewed the book version of this movie before so I won't go into the storyline. Click here for the link.

This movie adaptation does not do the book justice. Not only its a lot less funny, its also a lot less fun. It also eliminated, changed or simplified numerous key plot, scenes, and character introduction. Plus the movie was altered too much from the book. More as in change storyline more.

The setting for the movie was also unrecognisable in the movie. What happened to Thalia's tree that was suppose to act as the border for Camp Half-Blood? If i recall correctly, Percy's room did not overlook a lake and the Entrance to the Underworld was supposed to look like a record studio. So tell me what happened.

I absolutely loved the book. I thought it was smart, funny and very engaging. But in the movie there was no character growth. Percy was BAM suddenly a hero wanabe. What happened to the insecure teenager with ADHD and dylexia who suddenly had to face the toughest decisions in his life?

For someone who has read the books (namely me), it is sorely disapointing as I was expecting so much more. They failed to deliver the vital points for the next books - as a matter of fact MOST key characters were left out...the ones that propel the story as a series. If I had never read the book, it would be a fairly good movie, but if I was the author, I would make sure they actually follow it somewhat.

The casting was excellent no questions with that. What else that was missing was the was missing was the first person narrative. They should definately have some voice-overs for thoughts or something. It's just what makes the series so charming.

Bleach movie 2 : The DiamondDust Rebellion

Synopsis :

A valuable artifact known as "King Seal" is stolen by a mysterious group of people during the transport in Soul Society, Hitsugaya Toushiro, the 10th division captain of Gotei 14, who is assigned to transport the seal fights the leader of the group and shortly after goes missing.

After the incident, Seireitei declares Hitsugaya a traitor and orders the capture and execution of Hitsugaya. Kurosaki Ichigo refuses to believe this, and along with Matsumoto Rangiku, Kuchiki Rukia and Abarai Renji swear to uncover the truth and clear Hitsugaya's name. Meanwhile, a rogue Hitdugaya searches for the perpetrators and uncovers a dark secret regarding a lond dead shinigami.

Storyline :

The pacing of this movie is really good. Nothing feels out of place. In fact, the timing is pretty good. The plot of this movie is really nice and sad. The plot makes sense and it does not feel like a filler movie unlike the first bleach movie.

Music :

The credit song for the movie was just ordinary. I didn't really like that song. However, the backgroud music was wonderful. Whenever I hear it, I know something is going to happen. Not only that, the songs really adds the intensity to the movie.

Animation :
The animation was average. I don't find the animation anything special. I feel that anime art is always better than the movie and I wonder why... Are they trying too hard? Anyhow, same for bleach. I think Bleach anime art is way better than the movie. The movie somehow presses more on the shadowing and making the edges sharper. That slightly distorts the character features. Maybe, they are trying to make it look darker but I don't think that it's nice.

Characters :

TOUSHIRO HITSUGAYA
He is the main character in this movie. He is your usual tsundere character. He does the "leave me alone" thing and "this my problem, I'll deal with it on my own" thing. He hardly shares. He is a child prodigy and youngest captain of the Gotei 13. So yea, he maybe a little arrogant.

SOJIRO KUSAKA
In this movie, he is bad guy. Well, he died as a shinigami long time ago but he was reborn as a hollow in Hueco Mundo. And now, he is back for revenge against the Soul Society and Toushiro Hitsugaya. He feels that the Soul Society was unfair to him and that he is the true wielder of Hyorinmaru instead of Hitsugaya. FYI, he and Hitsugaya were good friends in the past.

ICHIGO KUROSAKI
Who doesn't know this dude, unless you been living under a shell for several years. He is the main character of the very popular anime series, Bleach. And well, of course, like any typical shonen main character, he is a kind hearted dude who cares about his comrades.

Review :

This is definately more awesome than Bleach 1st movie. This movie was awesome~! It had action from the very start till the end. This movie was quite intense that it kept me at the edge of my seat. As I watched, I was curious and wanted to know more. The action scenes were very satisfying.

But at the end, the action wasn't so nice when Ichigo interupted with his wise talks. Sometimes, I wish he talked less and let the fights just continue.
The background music was awesome because it makes more intense. This is an intense but nonetheless, it was good.

I rate it a 4 stars out of 5. Definately a must watch to all Bleach lovers and action lovers. Great movie with a great plot and kick ass fight scenes.

The Gift

Because last week, we didn't review anything. This week we will review two stuff.

SYNOPSIS :

Lou Suffern wishes he could be in two places at once. His constant battle with the clock is a sensitive issue with his wife and family. Gabe is the homeless man who sits outside Lou's office. When Lou invites Gabe into the building and into his life, Lou's world is changed beyong all measure...
An enchanting and thoughtful Christmas story that speaks to all of us about the value of time and what is truly important in life.

Character Development :

At first, Lou Suffern character is quite shallow but through out the book, his character deepens and becomes more real. During the first few characters, you feel that Lou Suffern is a little fake. But as the story progresses, his character begins to make sense and feel real. In the beginning, he is not a very likeable character but in the end, you wished the author didn't give him that kind of ending.

Writing Style :

Cecelia Ahern writing style is a little complicated and hard to imagine at times. But at certain times, it was simple and flowy. Her writing style is a little unconsistent. However, half the book later, her writing style becomes more flowy and warmer. The story becomes very heart warming.

Review :

In the first chapter, the story didn't even started with Lou Suffern. It started with some guy that is not even mentioned in the synopsis. As the story progresses, it felt a little fake and bullshit. No guy could be that lame, could they? The story felt very distant. The main character felt fake and personally, I couldn't relate with him.

I had a lot critics for it. Like how the writing style is inconsistent & how lame the character is.

Just as I was about to give up on reading this book, the story turns on me. Suddenly, half a book later, the story becomes warmer and I could relate with the character suddenly. The writing style improved by leaps and bounds too. Wow, I was pleased and I continued to read.

And when it finally ended, it really touched my heart. I have to really say that the story showed not only to the character but to the readers also about the most important thing in life and the value of time.

This story is like Christmas Carol but only slightly nicer and more modern with a sad ending. I wish the author didn't end it that way. Nonetheless, this is a very good read. This would make a very good christmas read. Really.

I rate it 3.5 stars out of 5.

Anatolia Story/ Red River

Yuuri Suzuki who is magically transported to Hattusa, the capital of the Hittite Empire in Anatolia. She was summoned by Queen Nakia who means to use Yuri as a human sacrifice needed in placing a curse upon the princes of the land so that they will perish, leaving Nakia's son, the youngest prince as the sole heir to the throne.

Red River storyline is the classic 'girl arrives in new world, falls in love and saves the world' concept seen in many shoujo mangas. Whereas other titles of the genre rely on prophesizing the heroine as 'the savior' and bless her with destined powers, Anatalia Story takes a much more realistic approach in its portrayal of Yuuri; Which means there is no all-encompassing wheel of destiny constantly at work here.

One interesting contrast to most other titles of this genre is that although the romantic elements are strong, they do not represent the whole of the content. Indeed, the various interactions between the characters are all integral to the development of the storyline: from loyalty to betrayal, from brotherhood to unrequited love, from friendship to hatred, they all contribute to ultimately shape the direction of the series.

What I must point out is that the artwork is somewhat outdated, which will obviously not please everyone. However, this suits the series very well: in contrast to the usual overly exaggerated shoujo style, or the ecchi infested shounen style.

Anatalia Story is a beautiful story of love, war and betrayal. So sweet and yet so tragic, the sentimental value is unparalleled. And in the end, everything comes together in a tale in order to bring a nation - and most of all, two individuals - together.

Verdict: 9.0

Percy Jackson & The Olympians is a series of adventure books written by Rick Riordan, based on Greek mythology. Our titular character, Percy Jackson thinks he's a normal kid trying to not keep his record of changing school every year after being expelled from the last one. What he doesn't know is that he is the son of a god. Obviously, this would explain everything.

Percy Jackson is an excellent replacement for readers eager to move on after finishing the great Harry Potter series. The Lightning Thief takes the same approach that Harry Potter did, but with obvious differences. The main character, Percy Jackson, is clearly different than all of his peers in schools, until one day someone tells him he is the son of a Greek god, also called a half-blood, or demigod. Very similar to Harry Potter's situation in the Philosopher's Stone.

Percy Jackson is also paired with two, close knit friends. His first friend, Grover Underwood, is a satyr (half goat and half human) who was sent to locate Percy and verify if he was a true demigod. Percy's second friend is a girl by the name of Annabeth Chase who is a daughter of Athena and one of the longest tenured campers at Camp Half-Blood for young demigods training to be heroes.

Within a few days of being at Camp Half-Blood, Percy is blamed with stealing Zeus’s Master Lightning Bolt, which he didn’t. He is quickly whisked away to fulfill a quest set out by the great Oracle. He also becomes the owner of the sword Anaklusmos (which means “Riptide”)- a gift from his father. In the process, he learns that the Olympians still exist, along with many other figures and monsters from Greek mythology like Titans, cyclopes, and other creatures.

As stated, Percy Jackson is the son of a Greek god set in present time. His mother is a human and living in New York. All the while Percy is thrown head first into a world of myth and completely unknown to him and possibly even the reader. Whether it is the new Mount Olympus being located in New York's Empire State Building or the Underworld of Hades being located under Los Angeles, Mr. Riordan has given great care to making his world seem real.

James Cameron has managed to amaze us yet again after more than 10 years with this visually spectacular, incredibly cliche and yet somehow clasic storyline.

So this time our protagonist, Jake Sully is a cripple ex-Marine who takes the place of his dead twin in the avatar program. His job is to befriend the blue skinned race of native people known as the Na'vi and convince them to move from Hometree with diplomacy...or the military will simply blast them away because the Na'vi live on top of the largest mineral reserve there is.

Things are not as easy as it looks as the Na'vi aren't too keen on moving. But after seeing him tarzan-ing around in his blue hyper-active body, it’s clear that he’s never going back to that crippled pasty body of his.

Jake is taken in by one tribe where Neytiri, reluctantly has to teach him the ways of the people. The Na'vi have a saying, "I see you," which goes beyond the visual. It means I see into you and know your heart. As usual our fated couple would fall in love along the way which is bad because she already has a fiance. *Cliche must have no.1, forbidden lovebirds - check* (this is so like pocahontus)

Jake finds himself torn between two worlds when his cover is blown. War breaks out between the two sides *major catastrophy - check*. Eventually Jake becomes drawn in by the natives and begins to question whose side he should be on: with the humans, where he would remain...well a cripple, or with the Na'vi, where he can make a difference. *Cliche no.3 the life changing choice*

That said, the visuals are undeniably amazing. There is not once where you ever thought that it looks fake. The moon of Pandora is brought to life with such lifelike clarity. The details of every plant, every creature are simply astonishing and a wonder to behold. It may be the most beautiful movie I’ve ever seen.

As stunning as Avatar is to look at, there is a strong message throughout the whole film about the importance of preserving the planet and peace and goodwill towards all creatures. To sum it up, this is just one of the best movies ever!!

Ok, James Cameron made a huge comeback with this movie. Looks like he haven't lost his director touch yet. Well, James Cameron movies has always been different & long.

The story plot of this movie is pretty interesting but it's slightly cliche. It's one of those environmental message movie. And like usual, the main character is somehow the chosen one by the Na'vi, falls in love with a Na'vi and makes a life changing decision-Either he betrays humans or he betrays the Na'vi. But overall the plot was pretty good & engaging.

But somehow, the message that James Cameron portrayed in this movie makes a lot of sense. From the environment all the way to the energy flow. So in a way, this movie opens your eyes.

The graphic...let's talk about the graphic. It's done pretty good & it's pretty believable. It's not one of those lame CGI that you know it's fake. Pandora has a very lovely forest. And the Na'vi looked pretty real.

So I think this movie was really good. I recommend it. (hoho, my first recommended movie) I rate this movie 4 stars. Good job, James Cameron. It was a pretty awesome movie.

Pandora Hearts

Synopsis :

Oz Bezarius, heir to one of the duke houses, has just turned 15. His life is rich and carefree, darkened only by the constant absense of his father. At his coming-of-age ceremony, however, everything changes. For no reason that he can discern, he's cast into a prison known as the "Abyss", only to be saved by a "chain" known as Alice, the bloodstained black rabbit. IT is unknown why he was cast into Abyss, how does Alice factor it all, and what does the organization known as "Pandora" wants with him?

Storyline :

The anime starts out with a hell lot of questions. And it does not get solved until later on in the anime. So, if you don't questions and mysteries, then, this your thing. But the plot is pretty good and I like the way it slowly unravels. The pacing is pretty good. It answers the questions that you been wondering and then, it tosses new questions only to be answered later on. However, I did not like the way they ended the season. They left the main question unanswered, just when you figure out the rest.

Music :

The Opening Song, Parallel Hearts by Fiction Junction is pretty good as it fits the theme of the show. The background music is spectacular and you know trouble is coming when the background music is played. Yuki Kajiura did a very good job in making those lovely background music.

Animation :

The art is average and nice. However, it's not consistant at times. The studio handled it pretty well. But at times, I think the characters look slightly distorted and unproportional. But overall, the art was pretty good.

Characters :

OZ BEZARIUS
He's the main character of this anime. He's a kind person. He has alot of secrets and darkness in him. But still, he manages to put on a smile and pretend to be happy. He is stronger than he thinks he is. And in the beginning of the series, he was pathetic.

GILBERT NIGHTRAY
He used to be Oz's servant until he got adopted by the noble Nightray family. He is a very loyal servant and when, Oz returned from the Abyss. He immediately went to serve Oz as his servant. Eventhough, he is now good with guns and smokes, he is still the same servant boy he used to be. Sometimes, he is a little dramatic because he will do anything for Oz. In a way, that's a little annoying but I think his voice actor did a good job in portraying him.

ALICE THE CHAIN
She's the chain that saved Oz. And maybe even potential patner for Oz. She's a very lively, stubborn person. She eats alot of meat. And the amount that she can eat will scare you. Even so, she has her own deep dark secrets.

VINCENT NIGHTRAY
He is Gilbert's brother and honestly, he is a little crazy. Obviously, he has some of his own skeleton in a closet. But he is quite an interesting character to watch because of his craziness. He is alittle mysterious and there's something about him you just want to know.

SHARON REINSWORTH
She's the granddaughter of Duke Reinsworth. She's a kind hearted, sweet girl but if you get on her wrong side, she can and will hurt you. She's a polite and sweet girl like how any noblemen daughter is like.

XERXES BREAK
He is also a little crazy and wacked. He is Lady Sharon's servant however, he doesn't act as a servant sometimes. Lady Sharon sees him as an older brother compared to a servant. His character is quite peculiar and funny. And he too has his own dirty little secrets.

REVIEW :

This anime is a shonen anime with a tinge of gothic and fantasy. It sligtly reminds me of Kuroshitsuji but this storyline is better than Kuroshitsuji. I like the plot and it slowly reveals itself and answering the questions it threw at you during the first episode. The music was good and it fitted the anime feel. It helped to make the anime more real.

Only thing I hate about this anime is the character development because it's a little slow and sometimes, the characters are portrayed as retarded and pathetic. But later on, the characters became more lovable. Oh, I hate the ending too. The season just ended without any closure. IT did not answer the main final important question that has been lingering in our heads as we watch the series.

There better be a season 2 or many Pandora Hearts fans will not be happy or satisfied. However, I rate this anime 3 stars and I think that it'll get a better rating from me if it ended more nicely and not so sudden.

Twilight Saga : New Moon

How can we not review the movie that has been the talk of the year? *smirks*

SYNOPSIS :

It's Bella Birthday when she got a papercut in the Cullen's house. Due to that, Edward fears for her safety and so, he and his family leaves Forks. Bella was in depression for a while until she found Jacob Black and they became best friends. Then, she found out that he is a werewolf. Later, Edward thought Bella is dead and so, he wanted to commit suicide by going to the Volturi. Somehow, Bella saves him. When Edward comes back to the picture, Jacob wants to be in the picture and so, a love triangle begins. Vampire Vs Werewolf. Whatever would happen next?

REVIEW :

It was a good thing Catherine Hardwicke did not direct New Moon. Chris Weitz added some action into this movie. Overall, this movie was MUCH MORE better than Twilight. It had more drama and more action. It felt more real. The movie had much more better special effects which I liked. The fight scenes are much better.

Kirsten Stewart acting skills is much better here. She is so believable when she was being depressed. You could really feel the drama and it really felt real. Taylor Lautner also made the movie come alive. His lines in the movie were really sarcastic that really made this movie more real. He really acted quite well as Jacob Black. Robert Pattinson on the other hand, his acting was better compared to Twilight but he still looked like a constipated person to me.

Overall, this was a pretty enjoyable movie. It didn't suck as bad as I thought it would. The drama & intensecity was there. However, I felt that this movie could have been better. I would rate this movie 3 stars.

This anime came out in the year 2007 but I'm reviewing it anyway.

Synopsis :
The story starts with Yorito Morimiya, the main character, walking around taking pictures of the rising sun. Then, he found a girl named, Matsuri Shihou. She seems to have a big secret which is that she is a Yaka. Yaka is immortal with a certain powers and they can't go under the sun or they will die.
He protects Matsuri from a man who is hunting her. But soon, he realises that his older sickly sister, Aono hates her. And he wants to know why she is doing her best to get rid of Matsuri.

Soon, more unknown secrets are revealed. At the end of the series, Matsuri & Yorito died while Aono lived with a purer heart.

Storyline :
The first 5 episodes are quite boring because it consists of worthless conversations. But as the story progresses, this anime showed had more depth & it became more interesting. There were many secrets in the anime that you were waiting to be revealed. Then at the end of the series, it gives you 180 degree turn that you never expected. The ending was a nice closure to the series and it even gives you a feel good melanchony feeling. So the storyline was quite good and interesting but it would have been better if the first 5 episodes weren't so boring.

Music :
The Opening and Ending song is very nice as it fits the anime completely. The background songs for this anime were not bad as it complimented the anime.

Animation :
The animation is handle very well by Nomad Studio. The animation is neat and clean. I think the art was very good, better off compared to alot of anime. I liked the art alot.

Characters :

YORITO MORIMIYA
He loves to take pictures of the sky and the clouds. He has a very kindhearted person. He loves his older sister and he even buys her plushies for her. Unfortunately, he isn't real and he dies at the end of the series.

MATSURI SHIHOU
She is a Yaka. She is the reason of Aono & Yorito secrets and suffering. She is a very nice person who is a little lonely. She came back searching for Aono & Yorito to set things right with them and to expose the secret to Yorito.

AONO MORIMIYA
She is also a Yaka. Her heart is slightly filled with grief and anger. She loves her younger brother alot. Sometimes, she acts a little cold and mean. She keeps secrets from Yorito and hates Matsuri. She is actually a caring person. She is just doing her best to carry on with life.

Awards :
This anime was voted the best anime for the year 2007 because it was touching and sweet.

Review :
Overall, this is a very nice anime because the anime has good pacing and timing. It's touching and funny at times. Eventhough it has only 13 episodes, this anime is worth watching. This anime won't make you cry buckets but enough to make you sniffle and be touched.
I rate it 3 and a half stars. If the first 5 episodes weren't so boring, I would give it a higher rating.

Uglies Trilogy

There's actually four books in this series but the forth book, Extras has actually nothing to do with the main character.So I'm not reviewing that forth book.

SYNOPSIS :

Since it's trilogy, it's obviously a long story. So long story cut short, I'll summarise this trilogy. The story sets in a sci-fi futuristic world where things are a little different. Their technology is really advance. It's so advance that at the age of 16, every human goes into an operation for becoming pretty (as pretty as a supermodel). So, if you haven't gone through the operation, you are known as uglies. And obviously, after the pretty making operation, you'll be known as a pretty.

A pretty life is really fun. All you do is party and have fun. Nothing else. But there's a catch. Being pretty will strip you of your will, dignity and identity. Not only that, you'll be stupid too. So, the main character which is Tally Youngblood has only one job in this whole trilogy. That job is to rebel. She's the symbol of humanity & mankind.

Character Development :

In the whole Trilogy, you'll get to see alot of growth in Tally's character. But soon or later, you'll get to guess her next move. Because as much as she change, there's one thing that will never change, her stubborness and her believe in the right and wrong. You'll get to know her more throughout the trilogy because it's written in her point of view. You'll enjoy her thoughts and you will feel and share her happiness and sadness. And by the end of the trilogy, you'll want more and you'll have grown to love her.

Writing Style :

Scott Westerfeld has a very unique writing style. His writing is simple and yet so strong. From his writings, it's obvious that he loves his main character which is Tally Youngblood. The author also questions alot things in this trilogy that made me think such as beauty - Is it only skin deep?, The environment - Are we being good to the only planet we live in? (His trilogy is set in the future where they hate our burning of fosils and wars.),Technology - Are these changes for the better?, last but not least, humanity - Do we have a right to strip others of their will?

Review :

This is a very good trilogy to read. I hardly read sci-fi but this sci-fi is just different from the rest. It asks alot of questions and yet it's entertaining. It has alot of adventure, trouble, secrets, conspiracy and even romance. And the best of all, it's set in the future. Maybe, our future will look like what is written in the trilogy or maybe not.
None the less, this is a very intriguing read. You will wanna pick up that book and just read it over and over again. (Well, I know I did. I read this trilogy 5 times already.) And you know you want more eventhough it already ended. So I rate it a 4 and a half stars!

In the year 2009, a scientist discovered that the temperature of the earth's core is increasing rapidly. So they begin a secret project intended to ensure humanity survives (Think: Noah's Ark). To help fund the venture, individuals are allowed to purchase tickets for one billion euros apiece.

This is where our hero Jackson Curtis appears and unwittingly learned about the secret of the government from Charlie Frost, a conspiracy theorist living as a hermit. And so begins the race against time to rescue his family. Narrowly escaping by air, the group met up with Yuri Karprov, a Russian billionaire and his two sons, girlfriend and pilot. I think that you could guess where the story would lead from here.

2012 is essentially another one of those blockbusters that delivers in terms of the action but failed in most other respects. However, the massive destruction in this film is absolutely fabulous to behold - a visually spectacular chaos. In fact you could say that the special effects is the ONLY good point since there is practically no character or plot development. But if you like to watch our digitised extras being crushed by skyscrapers, this is thw movie for you.

Not very believable factually but c'mon this is your typical doomsday OMG-The-World-Is-About-To-End movie and what YOU - the audience wants to see is utter destruction and chaos. I wont call it a must see but you will not regret if you went to watch it.

Clocking in a near two and a half hours, you may get slightly tired with a never ending conclusion as we are "amazed" by our character's amazing ability and outstanding luck to survive the odds. But its not all that bad when you get to see airborne. On the whole, its a nice but predictable movie, similar to Say After Tomorrow and Independence Day.

Verdict: 6.4

The story begins in the desert country of Clow where the protagonists Syaoran, a devoted and kind archaeologist is continuing work of his late father of excavating the nearby ruins. His childhood friend Sakura, the kind and well-loved princess of the kingdom where Syaoran lives who holds undeveloped magic, however mysteriously has her memories scattered across the dimensions in the form of feathers and will die if they are not returned to her. To save her, Syaoran takes her to the Dimensional Witch where he meets two more of the series' protagonists who've arrived with similar wishes: Kurogane, a rough-mannered ninja, and Fay D. Fluorite, a laid-back magician with a dark past. In order to journey across the dimensions, they receive a cheerful white creature named Mokona, from the Dimensional Witch Yūko. On their journey across the dimensions to retrieve Sakura's feathers, they encounter many characters that they have already encountered before in other dimensions.

Okay, let's face it: this is a "big" series, one of those that drags for chapters and chapters with minimal progression, etc etc. The ending COULD have sucked big time. We see that all the time.

I think that, considering how confusing (REALLY confusing) the series is, the ending was okay, and it gave a certain closure. CLAMP also ends the story with a solid ‘whoa!’ moment that’s bound to make a good lasting impact after you’ve closed the book.

You should be warned, TRC contains crossover characters from various Clamp series. (As shown in the diagram)The only manga necessary is xxxHolic that runs parallel to TRC.

Volume 28 picks up where Yūko is revealed to have suffered a fate exactly the same as R!Sakura in that her own time had been stopped after Clow indirectly wished for Yūko when she was dying.

It is then explained that as clone Sakura and Syaoran are artificial beings, they're not bound by the rules of the universe and therefore could be revived. When given the choice to be reincarnated, Syaoran is initially hesitant before being convinced by Sakura due to the atrocities he previously committed.

After playing her part to aid the crew against FWR, her time begins to move again, bringing an end to her life.

The clones are then reincarnated with her memories intact by Yūko, and the two would eventually meet and give birth to a boy, who through a paradox turns out to be the original Syaoran. They raise him until it is time for him to begin the events of the series, and then they are sealed in a glass tube in order to await a certain event, with being unable to touch each other as the price.

Through an epic battle between the two Syaoran and Sakura, Fai and Kurogane, FWR was finally defeated. However, before he disintegrated, he revealed to Syaoran that they were the same--that is, they were both created beings.

After the defeat of FWR, the two Syaoran and Watanuki are pulled into a void between time and space as they are now entities disconnected with to world and must pay the price to leave. R!Syaoran decides the price he would pay is for his journey to continue while Watanuki's price to never be able to leave the shop.

However, the clones disappear and turn into feathers which are memories and return to their original self. At the end of the series R!Sakura finally confesses her love to R!Syaoran, and remains in the Kingdom of Clow awaiting Syaoran's return from his never ending journey.

Whew!! That took me quite awhile to summarise. My eyes spiraling more than once as I reread panels to try and grasp who was talking about what. And most importantly I did not expect that the original Syaoran and Sakura's real name are actually Tsubasa! How ironic and yet fitting.
Verdict: 9.0

Spice & Wolf II

Synopsis :
Lawrence, a travelling merchant, meets with Horo, a wolf deity. Somehow, Lawrence promised Horo that he'll bring her home in the Northern region and that he will look after her. While Horo promised that she'll be his business partner so that they will earn money. At first, they argue alot and has lots of witty remark about each other but in the end, they end up falling with each other.

Storyline :
This anime storyline is simple and not much. Even so, it's sweet. The storyline is neat and simple without much complication but of course, once in a while, troubles are throwed in the anime.

Music :
The medieval music fits the medieval theme and feel of the anime, making the anime more real and alive. The Opening and the Ending music is nice and sweet.

Animation :
The animation is quite nice. It's nothing special but the art is not bad either.

Characters :

CRAFT LAWRENCE
He is a very smart merchant who dares to take big risks. He understand alot about business and how it works. He is looking for big money. He is a very rational person but later in the season, he becomes a little more emotional because he fell in love Horo and he is afraid to lose her. Sometimes, he overthinks about things. No matter what, he is a lovable character.

HORO
Horo is a very smart but cunning wolf deity. She is also pretty and witty. Sometimes, she uses her beauty to fool people and to get what she wants. She is a damn good drinker. Sometimes, she behaves like a spoilt brat. Slowly, you will begin to love her character.

Review :
This anime is not a very good anime nor is it a terrible anime. It's one of those so-so anime that is very sweet and nice. It's the kind of anime that you would want to watch after watching epic and awesome anime. It's one of those anime that you watch to relax yourself.
Overall, it's a very nice anime. And you would want to see Lawrence and Horo together at the end of the season. So I rate it 3 stars.

17 Again

Yes, I know this movie was in cinemas quite a while ago. Even so, I feel like reviewing this movie.

Synopsis :

Mike O'Donnell of class 1989 was a star in his high school basketball court with a college scout and a bright future in his grasp. But instead, he decides to throw it all away when he found out that his girlfriend, Scarlett was pregnant.
Almost 20 years later, Mike marriage to Scarlett has fallen apart. His teenage children things he is a loser and his best friend, Ned who is a nerd is now a billionaire. He can't even get a job promotion even though he has worked there for almost 20 years.

Mike is given a another shot at life when he suddenly transformed back to the age of 17. Unfortunately, he may look 17 but he is a 30 something year old man at heart. How will he survive high school in the year 2009?

Review :

Eventhough this story plot has been used in several hundred movies, this movie is still interesting. The pacing of the story is really good. It's not too fast & it's not too slow. And it's definately not boring. This movie can really make you laugh out loud.

Unfortunately, I have to give credit to Zac Efron on his acting skills. All this while, I was a anti-efron person but this movie changed my perception. This reason I watched this movie was because of Matthew Perry but ended up, enjoying Zac Efron acting. He managed to emote really well in this movie and the character seem real.

Unlike all his past works such as High School Musical & Hairspray, I think this is the first movie that display his acting. I hope he picks better projects next time. As for the supporting cast, they did really well too. The movie felt real and relevant to adults and teenagers.

This movie is one of those nice, sweet, relaxing movie that you want to watch on a tired Monday night. This movie is just one of those movie that gives you a nice after feeling. I have no regrets in watching this movie and I have personally watched this movie thrice.

This movie is definately not corny and I think it worked out quite well. I rate this movie 3 stars out of five.

Twilight Saga

Synopsis :

I'm sure everyone knows the Twilight saga. But if you don't know the Twilight saga, I'm going to just summarise it because telling too much would be a major spoiler and we all know that spoilers are a no-no.
Anyway,this is your ordinary vampire love story. Anyway, in the story we have the main character, Isabella Swan. She's your ordinary quiet girl. So one day, she moves to Forks to stay with her father. Then in Forks, she meets a boy who is a vampire, Edward Cullen. And so the vampire & the human girl fell in love with each other. The saga revolves around this main plot.

Character development :

There's quite a few character development. We get to know Bella because the story is her point of her view. We know what's she thinking and after a while, you can pretty much guess her next move.

Writing Style :

Stephenie Meyer has an interesting writing style that captures our attention. However, from her writing, I can tell that Stephenie Meyer is slightly prejudiced because she made her vampire almost godlike and that she really love her main character, Bella Swan.

Review :

This saga actually has a nice story but for me, this saga cannot be read more than twice because it will lose it's charms. The theme of the story is really good but it has been drag too long to fit in 4 books. There are some books in the saga that were really dissappointing.
The ending of this story somehow felt a little boring and yet disgusting. As much as I enjoyed this book, there are times when I feeling throwing the book on the ground. This book is mostly dissappointing than amusing. Even so, it's pretty good.
I rate it 2 stars.

So~~after what? 5 month? DGM has kindly provided a sweetener to its fans (me~!!)who were rather piss at the series of unexplained hiatus - well at least until it returns in November as a monthly release.

Okay. *speechless* All I can say is that (a)exorsist are being attacked left right and centre (b)wow their new uniform kinda sucked (c)Allen has gained an awesome new attack (d)It has no direct link to the previous chapter...just when we're about to know more about Kanda

From the first few pages~We know more about our Noahs than ever before! Really shocking! I'm also surprised that the Earl is a Noah - I always thought that the Noahs served the Earl...

This being us to questions as I thought that Road would be the 1st disciple as they call her the First Child~~Apparently I was wrong. On top of the miraculous pace it is going at, the Noah's seems to have gain an ability to appear out of thin air.

About the 3rd Exorcists...They're quite disappointing after their rather grand entrance to the Order - proclaiming that they could help the exorcist in the war. Seems that even if they could consume many akuma with one attack they are powerless against the Noah.

Anyway, the most surprising news is that they are "born" from something called Alma Karma and that they too can turn into this thing to give "birth" to other 3rd exorcists. Talk about cannibalism. And for some unknowed reason the Earl wants it.

To wrap things up, this manga is very jaw-dropping with many new revelations.

Verdict: 8.9

This manga has been in hiatus for too long. And when the new chapter has been published, many fans rushed to read it. In order to please the fans, the chapter is 50 page long.

However, I felt that chapter 187 is very dissappointing. WHY?

1. The art work became more messier & harder to read

2. The Noah looked alike while the characters no longer looked like what they used too. It seems that the characters have morphed.

3. It is actually quite a boring chapter.

In this chapter, the Noahs were unveiled. Isn't that suppose to be exciting? In any D.gray-man fan mind, Noahs are strong, mysterious and maybe even good looking. But when the Noahs was really unveiled, it felt insignificant and nothing special. So that's slightly boring as the characters looked like a photocopy of each other.

And about the exorcists, their new uniform sucked. I think this is the worst uniform design ever. Not only that, the mysterious 3rd exorcist turned out to be lame weaklings. And it also seem the exorcists are losing this battle.

Another thing that made this chapter dissappointing is that this chapter did NOT continue the last chapter. That's quite frusfrating to all Kanda fans. I'm sure all the Kanda fans are asking, "WHAT HAPPENED TO KANDA? WHAT IS HIS SECRET PAST?"

Overall, this anime is just dissappointing and if Hoshino Katsura wants to keep her fans, she should do something. This is not one of Hoshino best works.

Death Note synopsis :

Shinigami own notebooks called "Death Note" which are used as killing devices. Whoever's name they write down in a death note will die. Shinigami Ryuk dropped his death note in the human world where it's found by honor high school student Light Yagami.
Light Yagami discoveres that he now he has the power to discreetly kill people and with this power, he plans to change the world by killing off criminals. Soon, he is called KIRA.
L, a super dectective wants to catch KIRA, believing that KIRA don't have the right to kill.
Then, a cat & mouse situation appeared.

Storyline :
This anime has a pretty good story premise. The storyline is interesting. At first, the pace of the story is slow but then it slowly takes off. The 2nd half of the anime gives you a sudden plot twist which you wouldn't expect.

Music :
The background music that are quite nice. It really gives life to the anime, making the anime more real.
The opening & closing of Death Note are quite nice. Nothing special but nice to listen to.

Animation :
The animation is done really well. The art is really nice. The art is different from most anime because of it's not your usual anime art. The art in Death Note looks the most realistic to humans. The art almost looks real. That's what I like about the art. It gives me a break from the usual anime art.

Characters :

The main character of this anime is Light Yagami. The intelligent honor student & perfect son. He is an intelligent person. Wait, heck, he's brillant. He's a genius. Well, he found a death note and uses it to cleanse the world by killing criminals. You get to see his character development as the story passes.
You will either love him or hate him.

Then we have, L.lawliet, the super dectective. He's also a genius. He wants to arrest KIRA. His character is quite weird & interesting. He likes to eat lots of candies. He is definately a loveable character.

REVIEW :
This another must watch anime. This anime has an interesting mental battle and it always leave you wondering who will win the game. It's a very exciting anime filled with suspense.
The ending of this anime leaves you wanting more but you can't have it because it ended. I, personally wanted more! The ending is quite sad and not really happy. But there could be no other ending than this because the author didn't attempt to make a happy ending at all and wrote in a way that drove to this ending.
So I rate this anime 4 STARS!!

G.I Joe: The Rise of the Cobra

I haven't have much expectations for this movie~ expecting it to be a usual boring 'world domination' plot recycled many times over. Boy was I wrong~ The pacing was excellent. Not too much explanation but well placed flashback sequence either featuring Duke/Baroness or Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow. Clocking below 2 hours, this is an action packed movie with loads of humour and its fair share of wtf moments that will keep you quite entertained.

Basically, G.I Joe is an elite military force led by the might-die-soon-in-future-sequel leader, General Hawks. His top troops comprise of a complete badass mute ninja Snake Eyes, intelligence expert Scarlet, technical brainiac Breaker and weapon master Heavy Duty.

They are introduced when a soldier convoy got blasted by the bad guys while transporting warheads capable of mass destruction. And naturally the only two survivors Duke and Ripcord became part of G.I Joe to track down their assailants The Baroness who has some history with Duke, rival ninja Storm Shadow, two timing weapon dealer McCullen, and the all time twisted mad scientist The Doctor.

Tech-wise the science gizmo are pretty awsome~ Apparently jamming electrode into a dead persons brain allowes you to replay their last memories. (We should test that theory sometimes~) But I think they seems to overdoing the 'shattering the glass' explosion effect. And somehow the Baroness reminds me of Catwoman- Her leather body fitting outfit is more of a fan service-designed to show of the best of her assets.

The action constantly shifts from dense forests, the streets of France, underwater bases, to high-altitude jet fights and a number of places in-between. The major sequences are both intense and sufficiently humorous with non stop barage of chases, explosions, destruction of mational landmarks and general mayhem across the globe.

My verdict: 7.7

The Undomestic Goddess

SYNOPSIS.
Samantha Sweeting-a high-powered lawyer in London, working for one of the best law firms, Carter Spink. Truly a workaholic, her goal in her career is to be a partner in Carter Spink.

Life seems to be running along just fine until she makes a terrible mistake. Thrown head first into the world of home making- A Cambridge educated lawyer mistaken for a house keeper~!! With romance throwed into the concoction can Samantha Sweetings learn that theres more to life than just datelines, meetings and contracts. Oh and did I mention, she actually knows nothing about home making.

Character development
You can actually see the changes in her thoughts and movement. The author paced the story well and she could really give a sudden twist which you wouldn't expect. As for the romance between Samantha and Nathaniel, you can see it grow and you laugh at their awkward situation. And at the end of the story, you really want them to be together... This book is definitely one of my favourites and I highly recommend it to everyone. It's not corny, it's not boring. Instead, it's captivating, unique and addictive!

Writing Style
Sophie Kinsella knows how to make it dramatic, real and yet funny. The way she writes is very interesting and it makes you connect with the main character emotions and story plot. Although, this book is written in a first point of view, we do not miss out on the story plot.

Review
Honestly, I like this story. I liked the way Sophie Kinsella wrote it. It has a special charm. Somehow, you can relate with the characters. Normally, I don't even read this kind of genre but this book was so interesting and captivating that it was hard to put it down.
No matter how good the plot is, I'm slightly disappointed with the ending. Sophie Kinsella could have given us a little more description to her new life when she turned down the partnership offer. I give this book 4 stars. I'll be looking forward to reading Sophie Kinsella next work.

You should give the book a try!

There is a legend that tells of how the world was almost destroyed thousands of years ago by the vampire queen after she unleashed her latent powers. Despite their efforts, the humans were unable to defeat her, and thus resorted to sealing her away until the time they would be powerful enough to kill her. However, the humans are not the only ones after the seal. Having cast aside his kingdom and betraying his own race and the dhampirs (half-vampires), the vampire king is persistently searching, even to this day, for where his queen has been sealed away so he may break the seal and free her. Fearing that once the king and queen are reunited, they shall continue to destroy the world together, the humans and dhampirs hunt the king, using any method possible.-adapted from wikipedia

When I first read it, I was a little skeptical because is this going to be ANOTHER vampire versus humans storyline that can get pretty boring. However, I found it all makes for a very interesting plot and as I learned more details about the story I grew to enjoy it more and more.

In the beginning, I couldn't really develop a connection to every character as the story seemed a little rushed. But I later realised the quick progression in the beginning was necessary to move the story along appropriately, and then from there it continues at a normal pace. And just when you think it all might get repetitive the mangaka throws in a surprising twist!

Record of Fallen Vampire is a promising manga even though it takes a while for a story to find its bearings. Quite cluttered and badly framed at some point, the storytelling is the only strength of this manga. Interestingly, the truth about what that really happenned 1000 years before the story's timeline is shown through the character's biased eyes until the truth becomes clear –the differing perceptions of the same truth.

This is definitely not your typical bloodsucking vampire story and I am impressed about how she made this her very own. In summary, this is mesmerising tale filed with suspense - a supernatural epic. All in all this manga is definitely worth looking into.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince-the 6th instalation of the film. I'm sure that this doesn't need any introductions but just for precautionary measures...

Harry Potter is a series of seven fantasy novels written by British author J. K. Rowling. The books chronicle the adventures of the adolescent wizard Harry Potter, together with Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, his friends from the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The central story arc concerns Harry's an orphan who discovers that he is a wizard,struggle against the evil wizard Lord Voldemort, who killed Harry's parents in his quest to conquer the wizarding world and subjugate non-magical (Muggle) people to his rule.-adapted from wikipedia

In the begining it wasn't clear what the main plot was. But after the first half, the movie began to pick up, paving its way to an unconclusive ending hinting of what that is about to come.

Comparatively, the book was darker and complex compared to its film eventhough it lacks the magic and action of its prequels. Comedic effects are well paced and it did its job well to lighten up an otherwise dark, gloomy and the feeling-of-impending-doom atmosphere.

Watching The Half Blood Prince twice, I have no doubts about the acting abilities of the cast, especially of the supporting ones as the quality of their acting has improved tremendously. But the same cannot be said for Daniel Radcliff who portrays Harry Potter. His acting doesn't reach out to the audience like in his previous work~well at least in this film.

Characters especialy from the romance angle sees development (Infact the first-half is FLOODING with it.)It was interesting watching these characters, grow into young adult and acknoledging their feelings for each other.

Visually the Harry Potter saga has WOW-ed me yet again its amazing effects and atmosphere. The scenes were very much alike to what I imagined from the book. Coupled with its sound effects they kept me constantly in awe.

The Half Blood Prince, in whole is funny, entertaining but somehow when I left the cinema I felt slightly disapointed. Pointless scenes were inserted and others crucial and important to the plot and character development were compressed or removed.

The ending especially was very anti-climatic with the ending not following the book. The lack of explanatory and elaboration of the Half Blood Prince and its relation to Snapes past is its downside as those who have not read the book will not have any idea why is Snape half-blood.

This movie is not for those who are only in it for its action because you won't exactly see any. I was expecting more from a film that I had to wait a year plus for but overall this isn't bad. Not bad at all. It could have been worse.

This movie is NOT for those who have NOT read the book because if you didn't read the book, you'll not understand certain things in the movie.
This movie has wonderful effects, the effects are flawless.
However, the transition of the book to the movie is slightly dissappointing. The director only managed to put 60% of the book in the movie.

The director missed out several important parts of the book which are the essence of the book. Those essence are the main source of drama and emotions. This movie does not have much action but it's more emotional. (Be it, falling in love or being angsty)

I still have to give credit to the director for creating several scenes which ARE so similar with what readers had in mind. As for the cast, it's pretty damn good. Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) really did a good job of portraying Draco's angst and uptightness.
Hero Fiennes-Tiffin (Child Tom Riddle) and Frank Dillane (Teenager Tom Riddle) did a good job as Tom Riddle of being young yet different or in other words, evil. I wonder where they found the Tom Riddle's because those 2 are really what I would have imagined Tom Riddle to be.

I rate this movie 3 stars too. It could have been better...

Code Geass R1 Synopsis :The series is set after Japan's conquest by the Holy Britannian Empire on August 10, 2010, a.t.b. with their powerful robot weapons, the Knightmare Frames. Japan and its citizens stripped of all rights and freedoms and renamed Area 11. The titular Lelouch is a Britannian prince who was disowned by his father, Emperor Charles zi Britannia, after his mother was murdered. Since then he vowed to destroy his father, the Emperor, and Britannia. He gains an ability through the mysterious power of the Geass, becoming the leader of the resistance movement to fulfill his two wishes: to seek revenge for his mother and to construct a world in which his beloved sister Nunnally can live happily. As Lelouch furthers his conquests, he begins to find questions to his personal belief because of that of those closest to him.

Code Geass R2 Synopsis:
It's been one year since the failure of the Black Rebellion and the supposed death of Zero. Britannia has assigned Area 11 a "correctional education" status, where Elevens are made an example of by brute force, to try to prevent any future uprisings and suppress rebellious thoughts. Unsuspecting high school student, Lelouch, oblivious to his rebellious past as Zero, stumbles upon a scheme on his life and the life of a mysterious woman known as C.C., who reveals to him his forgotten purpose and his "true" self. Destroying his assailants and declaring himself Zero once again, Lelouch sets out to finish what he started.

Storyline :
This anime has one of the best story plots ever. It is fast-paced filled with action, emotions and drama. This anime is very addictive. Every episode hooks you even more. This story has many twists and turns. The sudden plot twist is so good that you never guessed it.

Music :
Code Geass R1 :
The songs are pretty good. I liked the first opening which is "colors" by FLOW and the second ending which is "Mosaicku Kakera" by Sunset Swish
Code Geass R2 :
I really liked all the both the openings which is "02" by Orange Range and "World End" by FLOW. I didn't really like the endings.
Background music :
The background music are very well done. It really suits with the anime. Songs such as masquerade, continued stories and Tori ni naru are really soft and nice. The background songs do drive in the emotion of the anime even more.

Animation :
The animation is done very well. Of course, it's done very well. This is a high-budget anime from Sunrise Studio and the animation is done by the best. CLAMP are the mastermind behind code geass character design. The animation has CLAMP signature all over it but then, I'm not complaining. I really like CLAMP's work.
Maybe, the characters are drawn a little too thin or unreal but this is an anime, it's not suppose to be real. Other than that, the art is excellent.

Characters :

The title character and protagonist of the show, Lelouch Lamperouge is a seemingly ordinary student at Ashford Academy. In reality, he is Lelouch vi Britannia, the exiled son of the Emperor of Britannia, after his mother's assassination. When he gets caught up in a battle between the military and Japanese rebels, he gains the power of Geass, and begins a quest to utilize this power to destroy Britannia under another identity known as Zero.

C.C. is one of the most important character in Code Geass as she was the one who granted Lelouch has Geass. Much is not known about her except that she's immortal and wishes to die.

C.C. is not her real name; she involuntarily reveals her real name to Lelouch in her sleep, but it is muted so the viewer cannot hear it. (I wonder why?? Damn Sunrise for being so secretive. Until today, people still argue on C.C's name in forums.)

C.C is quite a mysterious and sarcastic person when she is having a conversation with Lelouch. At the same time, she is also very kind. Their relationship is quite weird, honestly. And one thing that makes C.C so lovable is her penchant for pizza's and she will go to extreme length to get it.

Suzaku Kururugi is Lelouch's best friend and his worst enemy. Suzaku character is a little odd and hard to understand. But when the story ends, you will understand him a little deeper.
Suzaku isn't really a favourite character due to his thinking and actions. There's even a Suzaku must die fanclub. However, I think Suzaku is an important character in the series and he is actually a nice character if you can accept his reasons.

Awards :
Yes, code geass has awards. Yup, it's that good.

Ami Koshimizu won best voice actress in a supporting role for her performance as Kallen Stadtfeld in the Seiyu Awards 2007
Code Geass R1 won the best TV anime series award in the 2007 Tokyo International Anime Fair

Best TV Animation at the 13th Animation Kobe Event.
Code Geass was voted most popular and Lelouch was voted most favourite character in Animage's 29th Annual Anime Grand Prix

Review :
This is a must watch anime. It's the best of the best and you can expect one hell of a roller coaster ride from code geass. I rate it 5 stars.
People compare Code Geass with Death Note and Gundam because people claim that code geass = gundam + death note. That may seem to be true but even so, Code Geass has it owns identity.
Only complain I have is that the plot is sometimes a little too fast and confusing. Other than that, it's pretty damn epic! (Yes, I'm using the word "epic")

Code Geass is a very theatrical series - rather complex storyline, intricately woven characters, and a good dose of philosophy, as well. Its animation style is clean and crisp, and of good quality.

The characters are not exactly realistic looking but they're all unique in their own way - you have the typical angst ridden lead who would do anything to gain his goals Lelouch, then there's his EXACT opposite, christlike, idealistic, personality lacking goodboy Suzaku.

Code Geass has great rewatch value. It has flaws that prevent it from being a classic, yet it has every element to be a "must watch" anime - making it both exciting and interesting to follow.

Verdict: 9.0
